Hike Middle Peak

We will hike an 8000 ft peak in the Trinity Alps Wilderness with outstanding

views of the whole range.

The Trail winds through some big trees and nice springs and then winds it's

way up the side of Middle peak.

The total elevation gain is 3000 ft with 1000 of it being in the last mile.

Rt distance is 10 miles.

The trailhead is about 1 1/2 hours from Tops and there is a 6 mile dirt road so

a heavier car or truck is recommended .

bring plenty of water and lunch for some fantastic views.

The last time I did this was in the fall so it was smokey but we shouldn't have that this time of year.

Really great day. Unmatched beauty of scenery! Wildflowers galore .. . . . . Especially the orchids which were everywhere, And also yellow lupine, trail side flox in various colors, dogwood trees, knick - knick, pussy ears. We were gloriously overwhelmed and it was a superb day. Grand views at the top and all the fresh air truly exhilarating . Thanks for organizing the perfect day. :)

Don't we have to have permits from USFS to hike in Trinity National Forest? I was just in their office and think that is what I was told. I would really like to take this hike when its too hot in the valley. What about road delays on 299? Maybe they don't work on the weekends

Oh MAN I wanna do this hike! Pete, as you have done this jaunt before, could you possibly tell me roughly what time you anticipate we would make it back to the trailhead? I have some other stuff to do later in the day. Thanks so much! Oh, and I live in Trinity so if it works out I'd just meet y'all at the starting line.....
