Yosemite January 16, 17, 18 2015 Meeting 1 of 2

Want to start the new year off with an adventure that will pleasantly surprise you and leave you feeling glad you made the effort to plan, prepare and enjoy a winter adventure many people are unaware of.

If this winter proves to be a wet one, we will snowshoe to Dewey Point (6.5 miles round trip) one day, hike to Vernal Falls & maybe Nevada Falls, Mirror Lake, explore the many park attractions, and on our last night we have dinner at the Ahwahnee Lodge. In the event it doesn't snow we will hike the many trails of our choice, visit the water falls, and many other park attractions.

Please note that while we do group activities, this is your weekend and should be spent as you desire. Thankfully we have more options than time allows.

The serene and quiet beauty of Yosemite is breathtaking, and when snow covered, the park becomes a tranquil, spiritual, an absolutely awe inspiring sight. Normally in winter only outdoor enthusiasts will brave the weather, so there is less traffic and we are sharing the park with like minded people.

Lodging:

There are a few options for lodging. Normally we are centered at the Lodge at the Falls, and as of today a room is $240.00 per night. It's possible to split/share expenses, and in the event someone joins the weekend at the last minute it's possible someone is willing to let you throw your sleeping bag on the floor. This may be done quietly, or as happened two years ago, three in our party got bumped to the Ahwahnee (prices start around $550.00/night)  Lodge because of overbooking.

Lodging:

***If you're staying at the Lodge at the Falls, and need to cancel a reservation, you must give one weeks notice to receive your deposit in full. Generally the accounting office is friendly and efficient in returning your money.

Yosemite Lodge at the Falls    [masked]-4884. Prices are reasonable, the lodge is located right next to the food court, several gift shops and two other restaurants. Normally we catch the free shuttle bus from the lodge and get dropped off where we choose. In bad weather the bus is a great way to travel the park.

****To be located in the same building as most the group use Confirmation #78V77N when making reservations. Any questions email me.

Peregrine Condos  [masked], or[masked] Anne. Located inside the park, probably 20-30 minutes from Yosemite Village. Prices range from $250.00-$350.00, but you can share with several others and cut costs greatly.

Camp 4   First come first serve outdoor camping for $12.00 per night. If it snows, you will need the proper equipment for the elements.

Yosemite View Lodge    [masked]-4371.  Located outside the park, and depending upon weather/traffic, can be a 30-45 minute drive to the valley.

Thanks to all that attended the meeting. I think we shared some good info and set a few plans in place.
Those that didn't cancel put the restaurant thru some unnecessary work.
