Rocky Mountian Innosphere (map)
Make sure to RSVP!
It looks like we will be able to get a keg from Odells for this event which means that in order to comply with local liquor laws this will be classified as a private event, which means that you MUST RSVP. Thank you.
The originally scheduled Feed-in Tariff presentation has been postponed, however we have the opportunity to tour a first class facility the incorporates a number of green building concepts and energy efficiency technologies.
Building highlights include:
• LEED Gold certified
• Abound Solar PV rooftop and carport systems
• Natural lighting throughout the building
• Energy-efficient heating/cooling/lighting systems

Ah.. the RMI2 Building. Financed with public $'s. Paid back with public $'s. All the equity accrues to a private entity with no bindings to the public interest save a few pieces of paper with holes large enough, you can pass a Diesel gen-set slaved to power the grid through them.
Approved by Council at adjourned meetings. No busness plan. No where near a transit route.
Worth the trip though. That is a beautiful building the taxpayers of Fort Collins, Larimer County and PSD gaveaway
Seriously, Fort Collins is becoming known. We are becoming known for a place that is so unquestioning and so unlikely to put a pencil to paper that we are being seen as the most likely place to try silly experiments with the distribution utility. This has to be contrasted with the reality of our existing generation and transmission system. Windfarms out in the magic kingdom, etc. The only thing we lack is a few sober people with math skills.
I travel a lot and I've lived here for a year.
Whatever else may be true, Northern Colorado is a place with talented people who are tied to the place because of the mountains; Fort Collins a little like Boulder but smaller and more grounded in reality.
I'm looking forward to the tour.
Can't not mention the wonderful paradox here.
Feed in tariff's, which were rejected twice at Council and won't be up for consideration for 2 years, have been displaced by a building we didn't need in a town full of vacant real estate.
The FIT's sould have been paid by a rate increase by a utility with the lowest rates in the region that is doing very little with RE, the building will be paid back by diverting $'s destined for a school district that narrowly avoided closing a school.
Maybe someone can answer this for me...
Which is greener, an existing building repurposed to house business start-ups or a LEED Gold facility?
Which is better for our economic sustainability, considering that our region no longer manufactures building materials since the cement plant out in Laprote was shut down?
Which is better for the health of our schools? Could a business incubator be housed in a closed school?
Susan, w e will have the lead Architect present to talk about the design. One thing that should be mentioned is that they anticipate a LEED Platinum Certification for this facility due in large part to the substantial roof and carport solar array.
Garrett - the meeting is at 7pm at 320 E Vine St. Check the top of the page for a map.
