I'd like to start out by saying that we are pet-friendly group and love to hike and just plain walk, whether it's the Appalachian Trail, rail trails or local trails, like Lum's Pond, White Clay or any of the Greenways. I'm 55 years old, and it seems some the other groups set a blistering pace just to "blister"the feet. We'd like to be different than that, we'd rather enjoy our surroundings, our dogs, and the company.
I started this group so everyone of all skill levels and ages can participate, either with our without their pet and get other ideas for local hikes. I personally like the day hikes, but a weekend away hiking and camping on the trail is also welcome. Please understand that all our hikes are VERY PET-FRIENDLY and we frequently have our pets OFF-LEASH where possible and reasonable. If you can't respect that, then it's possible that this group is not for you.
In my opinion, there is nothing more refreshing or smile-inducing, than a dog free and in it's natural state, being a general good nuisance, or just running being a sight to see, and the smiling faces of our Goldens on a fun hike. All breeds are welcome here, as long as they're socialized. We have rescues, mutts, pure breeds and everything in between attending. If they're not well socialized, let us know before the hike and we will make accommodations so that your dog will be welcome. Puppies too!
As a final note, A small donation to the group goes a long way toward keeping the hikes possible and the dog treats coming. A donation can either be done on this website or it can be done personally before, during or after the hikes. Any amount will be fine with us!
Nose prints, muddy paws, and a wet coat are always welcome here!
