PowerShell for Developers

Let's take a look at Windows PowerShell and how we can make it useful for developers.

We will touch on:
* What is PowerShell?
* How do we discover PowerShell functionality.
* Operations that are useful to developers...
** Generating GUIDs
** Parsing and extracting info from XML
** Parsing and extracting info from delimited files.
** Navigating the Windows Event Log
* What are PowerShell modules? How to use them.
* Developer friendly Modules

If we have time, we can take a look at the ThingM blink(1) programmable LED indicator lights and how it can be used via PowerShell to provide notifications.

If we have even more time, we can look at how to monitor your TFS build status with a blink(1) and the .NET API.

      Thanks Greg. I hope everyone was able to take something away from it. The first half was a little slow and geared toward PS basics, but we looked at a few interesting things with PS Remoting and a real world example after we ate.
