Two quickie (but IMPORTANT) reminders:
1) Don't forget to RSVP for our November "Happy Holiday Hours" meeting so we can have a good headcount for the Olympic; they need to know how much space we will need on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving (Nov. 26th).
2) IL OpenTech Challenge (Hackathon) Rockford - Saturday, November 16th, 8:30a.m. at EIGERLAB, (605 Fulton Ave. , Rockford, IL-in the old Ingersol factory building complex; free parking.) Three prizes of $5K apiece are scheduled to be awarded, and lunch is supposed to be provided for event participants. We are told that ALL levels of local programmers are welcome to compete, and we think that YOU might be interested.
From the event description:
The Rockford OpenTech Challenge will bring together civic-minded web developers, designers, and data scientists together with civic organizations to use the power of open data and the web to help solve problems in our city. We’ll be issuing three challenges to participants. These challenges will take a civic problem faced by the City of Rockford or a local non-profit and challenge civic technologists to build an app that helps to solve the issue or educate the public about the issue. Winning teams will receive $5,000 each.
We hope to see all of you at these fun events this month!
P. S. Also - don't forget about one of our related groups: Northern Illinois PHP's next meeting this Tuesday: RSVP here: http://www.meetup.com/Rockford-PHP-Developers-Group/events/qljtmgyrpbqb/
