Beer and Drones - Burlington, VT

Come and join us to have a beer, talk about drones, and plan some events for this nice weather. All are welcome!

We'll meet around 6:30 pm and stick around til about 9 pm. If you have any topics you'd like to discuss, please, feel free. As this is our first event and we're in a bar, leave your drones in a car...just this time.

Finding us will be pretty easy as many of you already know us. If not, post to this event and we'll be sure to let everyone know what we're wearing.

Based on advice that training on a low cost setup is a transferable skill, I pulled the trigger on a starter quad to get my feet off the ground. http://www.amazon.com/U818A-2-4GHz-Axis-Quadcopter-Camera/dp/B00D3IN11Q

My udi 818a arrived today. Typical newbie enthusiasm led me to try it's maiden flights at dusk. Got my compass twisted in the gloom and the last I saw was it heading over the trees out of range and quickly descending. Luckily it cleared the trees, and the condo building, and I tracked it down in a parking lot. I could hear it in the increasing darkness by repeatedly kicking the throttle. Home safe charging again.

That was a great meeting. As a ground based greenhorn, nibbling around the edges of this, I appreciate everybody putting up with my many questions. The advice is quite helpful.

Also Paparazziuav was the totally open platform I was thinking of.

Glad this worked for everyone! I'm just as green. I can fly, but am mostly interested in the software side and what can be done beyond the drone.

See you guys at the fly-in.

Sorry I missed it once again. Going to shoot for the fly-in. In case any of you guys fly fixed wing, there is a fly-in Saturday and sunday at the Barre/Berlin Vermont Barnstormers field near the small airport there. Should be neat to watch. I've joined the club/AMA and have been flying at their other field. This event is only fixed wing though.

Looks like I'm the first to arrive. I've grabbed the huge booth in the corner inside.

I'd love to come chat more about drones, but my Wednesdays are full all summer. Would it be possible to have future meetups on another day of the week?

Hi Alex. Sure thing. We plan to have another one later in June probably in the Stowe area so stay tuned. Jb.
