DATE CHANGE: Dutch Oven Chopped

A Dutch Oven spin of the Food Network show. Don't be shy...test your cast iron skills on the fly!

This competition is limited to eight individual competitors, with eliminations in each round.

Three rounds as follows:

Round 1:  Breakfast, cook time: 45 minutes

Round 2:  Main Dish, cook time: 1 hour

Round 3:  Dessert, cook time: 45 minutes

Sportsman's Warehouse will provide all of the mystery "basket" ingredients and pantry items.

Contestants SHOULD NOT bring any ingredients, but should bring all of their cooking equipment and prep items (Dutch Ovens, tables, mixing bowls, measuring cups/spoons, cooking utensils, knives, etc.) and charcoal. It is recommended that if you have multiple ovens, bring them. Time will be allowed between each round for contestants to clean their ovens and prep coals for the next round.

Contestants can set up at 8 a.m. and prep coals for Round 1. The contest begins at 9 a.m.

Part Two of answers to questions:

    4. I will have plates, bowls, utensils, napkins for you to use for presenting to the judges.

    5. Food will be presented to the judges on plates, just like on the show, so you'll need to factor in time for plating your dishes.

    6. There will be 3 judges per round and contestants only need to prepare enough for the judges. If there are leftovers, Sportsman's will have aluminum trays available. (Personally, I hope there are leftovers!!!)

    7. You will be judged on the food presented - Taste, Presentation and Creative use of the four mystery ingredients. Since this is Dutch Oven Chopped, it is highly encouraged that the majority of the meals are prepared in your Dutch Oven.

Let me know if more questions come up! I'll do my best to answer them in a timely fashion.

I have emailed contestants with answers to some questions that have come up, but in case they did not see my emails, please see the info below:

    1. If you have your own prep tables, I suggest bringing them. However, if you need a table, please let me know as Sportsman's can provide them.

    2. Electricity is available on a limited basis if you want to bring any electric appliances. Eric cannot supply electricity to each station. There are two outlets on the opposite side of where we'll be setting up where Eric can place a table, but you will
have to carry your equipment to it. There is another outlet available in the area where we will set up, but contestants will have to use it one at a time. 3. I plan to have water for cooking and cleaning use, but it might be wise to bring your own in
case my supply runs out. You can also use Sportsman's employee lounge
sink (upstairs) for clean up and to get water.

Patti, this is an individual competition so the cooks can't have a helper. I won't be cooking. You could be a judge for the first round, if tht interests you.

Can I be a volunteer and be a helper. I don't have the tools and experience yet. ;-) I'll do anything.
