August the 2nd sounds fine and so does having the cook out in the morning.  It has been getting quite hot in the afternoon.
Let us know and we'll be there.

Hello, everyone!

I have not meant to be incognito over the last week - just busy catching up at work after being on vacation and scouting for potential locations for our next meetup.

I am considering holding our next meetup - basically a hands-on cookout/potluck - on Sunday, August 2. Since we all seem to be spread out (Cold Springs, Sparks, Caughlin Ranch, Incline Village, Carson City, Quincy, etc.), I wanted to see if any of you can recommend a centralized location (local park, etc.) where we could meet. Some parks have reservable picnic shelters (fee required) and some have shelters available on a first come, first served basis. Some of the reservable shelters I've looked at are at Rancho San Rafael (most not available until late August), Virginia Lake, Whitaker Park (near University), etc. However, if any of you know of picnic shelters in your neighbhorhood parks that you think might be a good place to meet, please let me know. They would need to be large enough for 25+ people plus our cooking equipment. Other suggestions for locations (besides parks) would be appreciated too.

Also, considering our hot temperatures lately, what are everyone's feelings about meeting in the morning vs. afternoon for our cook-out?

As an FYI, I finally posted pictures from our Breakfast Challenge and will get the recipes posted soon.

Also, Sportsman's received a large shipment of Lodge Dutch Ovens and accessories so they now have a good inventory if you are inclined to do a little shopping!

Thanks to all who participated in the recent cook-off (competitors, judges and onlookers). It was a lot of fun. I really love our group and am happy to see new members join every week.

Let me know your thoughts on our next meetup and stay cool!
