NVCT is once again co-sponsoring the annual Spring Culmore Cleanup. Since the first official cleanup in 2003, people continue to join this annual event held in the Culmore/Bailey’s Crossroads area.
More than 200 volunteers from diverse community groups and residential units form teams and fan out over the Culmore area to tidy up the neighborhoods around Bailey’s Crossroads. They gather at the Woodrow Wilson Library, 6101 Knollwood Drive, for their clean-up supplies and refreshments. Then, wearing their year’s t-shirt and gloves and carrying trash bags and grabbers, they clean up trash and litter all over the neighborhoods in the Culmore/Bailey’s Crossroads area. People of all ages and from our area’s diverse cultures come together to make the neighborhood shine. They foster a sense of pride and community solidarity.
After cleanup, they gather back at the library for lunch donated by a local business. NVCT hopes you can join in on this year's efforts. All volunteers are invited to bring family and friends - the more the merrier. If you are interested, please sign up by calling the Woodrow Wilson Library at:[masked], x4.
This year's event has been organized by: Bailey's Beautification Alliance, Bailey's Community Center, Dar Al Hijrah Islamic Center, Mason District Supervisor Penny Gross, Coca-Cola Refreshments, Hispanics Against Child Abuse and Neglect, Hidden Oaks Nature Center, Fairfax County Health Department, Rotary of Bailey's Crossroads, Alternative House, Northern Virginia Conservation Trust, and the Woodrow Wilson Library.
