About twice a month NoVES has Colloquy starting at 9:30 am. Colloquy is a time of quiet, meditative dialogue within a small group. People take turns leading the discussion and setting the topic. Usually Colloquy is on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month but in May it will be on the 1st and 4th Sundays. Thus, there will be Colloquy tomorrow morning (that is not what the calendar on the NoVES website says, but ignore the calendar this time). People meet for Colloquy in the Green Hedges Arts Building which is the small white building by the parking lot. Come try it out.
Maybe you're one of those people who sits in a church pew on Sundays thinking to themselves, "I don't believe a word of this." Or perhaps you've checked out of the dogma arguments altogether, avoid church or temple and just to try living a good, decent life. Or, maybe you don't believe in god, but instead seek an ethical path consistent with your understanding of the universe.
If any of those sound like you, we should meet! We're the Northern Virginia Ethical Society, a congregation composed of people unified by a simple faith: we want to make the world a little bit better. Founded in the 19th Century, Ethical Societies believe that bringing out the best in others brings out the best in themselves as well. We also believe in science, reason, and you. We don't focus on an afterlife or Final Judgment: our duty is to the living, and to the future generations who will follow us.
Northern Virginia Ethical Society meets on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. from September to June, and provides a Sunday School for your children. Address: 225 Nutley St., NW, Vienna, VA 22180.
