Wachusett Brewery Tour/ Hike to Muddy Pond/picnic dinner

Let's have a local and fantastic Saturday.....starting with a brewery tour and beer tasting at Wachusett Brewery in Westminster then carpooling a short distance for a hike to the secluded and lovely Muddy Pond. It's a nice hike along the Midstate trail. There will be more details to come. The time for the tour is simply an anticipated time right now and subject to change. Please feel free to bring something to share for our picnic dinner at the shelter. BYO dinner ware.

Directions

Take Route 2 (East or West) to exit 25. Follow Route 2A East about 2 miles. Find Wachusett Brewing Company on the right, just after passing under the stone railroad bridge. Park to the left of the building and use the main entrance.

Please see hike details from a previous hike in the comment section. Also the parking area is rough so anyone with a low clearance may bottom out if not extremely careful.

Had hoped to make this one, but I have to pick my granddaughter up in Leominster at 4:45 p.m. Would enjoy the brewery tour though, so if that's possible, I'll check back in here for a response. Not sure if I needed to rsvp first to attend that. Thanks!

Hi Sally....I am not subscribed to an internet service currently and missed your comment. Would have been fine to come on the brewery tour without an RSVP.

These are probably some obvious questions but since i am new to the group i figure I can get away with asking. How long is the hike? Is the plan for the picnic at the end or midway through the hike?

    • Cheryl M

Hi Larry...Welcome to the group. Hopefully, this answers your questions but feel free to comment again or contact me if you don't find your answers....please see the posting of our previous hike as suggested below in this comment section for hike length and other information. We will be hiking in and out on the same trail and hanging out at the shelter at Muddy Pond before hiking back to the kiosk.

Thanks Chery, this answered the key question of how much food to carry. One early comment said small kiosk and a more recent says the large kiosk, since I do not know where either is it probably does not matter. See you on Saturday

I'd like to go, but I have to go the Higgins Armory Museum for the Festival of Ales.

    September 15, 2013

    • Cheryl M

We'll miss you Bruce! Enjoy the festival.....it sounds really nice!

Also if anyone wants to do the hike and not the tour or vice versa, you are certainly welcome to do that.

We are now confirmed for our tour at 2pm.
We can probably fit about 8 cars in the parking lot so would love some volunteers to shuttle our carpool venture over to the kiosk. Please do be careful if your car is low to the ground. This is a rough parking lot. Here's a Google map to Bragg Hill Road from the brewery. This is the first kiosk on the road and it's the larger one. There is another one further down the street yet smaller but cool if anyone wants to hike in from there as well.

We'll be hiking in from a small kiosk on Bragg Hill Road. Here's a previous hike we did there for more information.... http://www.meetup.com/Northern-...
