Hike Flat Rock Sanctuary and Falulah Park

Flat Rock Wildlife Sanctuary and Falulah Park Hike
Saturday October 20, 20102

2:00 PM to 5:00 PM

Come join us in this 3.0 hour (4 mile) extremely picturesque hike alongside the babbling Falulah Brook where we will pass waterfalls, wading pools, Fitchburg's water supply, a scenic gorge and a small cemetery. We'll continue on to Overlook reservoir where we'll stop to have a snack then head back.
We'll start from the kiosk described below, hike thru the Flat Rock Wildlife Sanctuary then onto Falulah brook.
An extensive trail system traverses the sanctuary and park and leads you through a number of habitats including rocky ledges, hemlock groves, dry upland forest and wetlands. Look for signs of deer, fox and coyote along the trails. Hike leader: Richard F. Home phone[masked]-5564. Plan to arrive 15 minutes early unless you know the kiosk location described below.

Hello! I'm actually leading a hike to this very same area, later today! It's through Mass Audubon and North County Land Trust, so there is a small fee - but feel free to join me! We're starting at the kiosk at Crocker Conservation Area, at the end of Flat Rock Road, today (Sat. Oct. 13) at 4:15 to 6:30. Hoping to catch the low angles of the sun. Dress warmly! -Laurie Nehring

So sorry we didn't connect, and you got lost getting to the site! It can be tricky up there- lots of cut off trails that are not official and not on the map. We are leading hikes through North County Land Trust - have a great website with email announcements for our future hikes! Feel free to add your name to the e-list (which we keep private). Hope you have a good hike tomorrow! -Laurie
