I'm sure he didn't Christine. He would have to be some kind of genius to do that without a computer!!! I just think it's fun and it does stimulate the imagination and make me think of other ways to interpret ideas. But I bet ole Ray would say to his buddies "the 'status quo' means squat to us!" chuckle

Nevertheless, I came away with an expanded appreciation of the novel. Brava!

The meetings with this group are always fun and stimulating.
John - it was nice meeting you and even though I don't think those anagrams were in Bradbury's mind - they were also fun and food for thought. So Linda - your anagram of John's name ....very good. After the meeting I thought of all the great, insightful points I intended to make but missed ...... Ahh well.

I really enjoyed the meeting. Since I was late in the month I wasn't able to finish F451. Finishing it this morning. Remember Firehouse = If he rouse, rouse meaning to come out of a state of unconsciousness. I had asked if Clarisse was ever mentioned again and somebody they didn't think so. But, I found her mentioned, not by name but in memory. As Montag floated in the river he remember a farm from his youth. Inside the farmhouse was a beautiful women who knew "what dandelions meant when rubbed off on your chin." Well,... ha ha ha.... farmhouse = Harem Of Us; harem meaning ....something kept safe... see below

    Word Origin & History
    harem
1634, from Turk. harem, from Arabic haram "wives and concubines," originally "women's quarters," lit. "something forbidden or kept safe," Also..... A Sum of her, Famous Her, Safe Humor, and Fames Hour

Interesting........... because this time she is described as a woman, not a girl, suggesting, perhaps, his mother!

    Mother of Earth, perhaps?hmm

It was great to see you all after missing last month. Farenheit 451 was so timely! Our world is getting frighteningly close to it. I enjoyed everyone's input and ideas about this thought provoking classic.

What a pleasant evening discussing Fahrenheit 451. Rousing discussion, many viewpoints. Welcome, John Daley (who anagrams to Ah Lend Joy) who definitely added joy to the discussion with his comments and anagrams. This was fun! Christine, thank you for a wonderful facilitation. Our July book is Herman Melville's "The Confidence Man". Dennis will facilitate our discussion.

Our August book is Hemingway's "The Old Man and The Sea." We don't know who put this title into the pot so please identify yourself. We hope you'll be able to facilitate the August meetup. I enjoyed seeing everyone there and catching up. See you again in July!
