We will meet at Denny’s on I-10 at Washington (7300 Washington, on the northeast corner of the intersection) Parking will be limited at the shoot site so some can carpool if desired. We will plan on being at the shoot site about 7:45. The moon will rise at 7:45 and sunset will be at 8:25. That will give us an opportunity to take advantage of the ‘golden hour’ and the ‘blue hour’.
As has been discussed the ‘super’ full moon is only going to be about 1 degree larger than usual but it is still a good excuse for a night time photoshoot. In the heat of the last few days night shoots are a plus.
We will shoot from the pedestrian walkway over Memorial Drive just east of Montrose. Parking is limited to a small area on the Allen Parkway feeder just west of Montrose. Parking is very limited and we will be competing with the exercise people.
From Montrose, going either north or south, take the feeder to the west. From Allen Parkway going west, take the Montrose exit and cross over Montrose. Parking will be at the right curb just past the intersection. Traveling toward town on Allen Parkway, take the Montrose exit and do a u-turn to the westbound feeder.
The Tolerance or Diversity sculptures are on the same corner to those that wish will have an opportunity to shoot them. The moon should be located just to the right of the downtown skyline. This is also a good spot to shoot long exposures of the cars coming and going on Memorial below the bridge. Bring tripods and a flashlight.
