What we’re about
Northwest Houston Photo Club Meet Up is somewhat unique in the Houston area. It is a combination of a brick and mortar camera club with a meet up online community. It offers not only a vast accumulation of photographic knowledge to be shared with new photographers but also the flexibility anticipated through the use of the Internet. It offers the more traditional avenues of getting your photographs seen and critiqued as well as an online gallery for posting and commenting.
There are no dues for the ONLINE membership however for those that wish to become part of a more structured brick and mortar camera club there are some definite advantages to being a PAID member. That is all explained in the PAGES tab above. There is already a year’s worth of outings in place in addition to a year’s worth of monthly competitions.
I just want to say thank you for taking the time to browse our site and to let you know that you are welcome at both the monthly shoots as well as at the two monthly meetings. We will do our best to make your interest justified. Look forward to meeting you.

See all- Sam Houston Boat Tour - Houston Ship Channel7300 Clinton Dr, Houston, TX
The M/V Sam Houston has been operating as Port Houston’s public tour vessel since its inaugural voyage on July 30, 1958. This free service offers a leisurely, 90-minute round-trip, educational tour along the Houston Ship Channel to learn more about the port and maritime industry. Embarking from Port Houston’s Sam Houston Landing, visiting sightseers aboard the M/V Sam Houston can enjoy passing views of international cargo vessels and operations at the port’s Turning Basin Terminal. The 95-ft. vessel holds up to 100 passengers and features air-conditioned lounge seating, as well as standing room outside on the boat’s deck.
We have 40 seats reserved for our group - RSVP required and all adults attending must show a valid photo ID. I have confirmed that cameras are welcomed, but no tripods/monopods. This tour travels up and down the Houston Ship Channel for an up close view of the shipping and fishing industries, and when I took it years ago, plenty of dolphins followed the boat a few times.
Please check the website for further trip details and regulations, i.e., no food or drink allowed on the ship, but one complimentary beverage will be provided onboard. www.porthouston.com/community/tours/sam-houston-boat-tour
