NWIPs RTA Express - Derailing the RTA Tax Train - First Leg North Porter County

Climb aboard NWIPs RTA Express as we derail the RTA tax train! Join our caravan as we cruise north Porter County on Saturday, October 24, 2009, stopping along the way to wake people up to the consequences of the RTA referendum on November 3. NWIPs motto: We will not stop until "THEY" stop!!

We'll start at the Valparaiso Walmart, Rt. 30 and Rt. 49 Bypass at 10 a.m., putting flyers out on parked cars, handing out information at the intersection, and driving around the parking lot to call attention to the special RTA election. Then we'll zoom north on Rt. 49, where we'll pull into the south parking area at the Toll Road, for anyone who wants to join us there. We should get there around 10:45 a.m.

Our next stop will be the Jewel-Osco in Chesterton at Rt. 49 and Indian Boundary Road at 11 a.m. We'll do the same thing there as we did in Valparaiso, and then move out on Rt. 49 north to Rt. 12. We'll take a left on Rt. 12 and head west to the Brown Bag Sandwich Shop on the right-hand (north) side of the street for anyone who wants to meet up with us there. We will get there around 11:45 a.m.

From there, we'll continue on Rt. 12 to Rt. 249 and head left (south) to Quaker Steak and Lube, at Ameriplex Drive (a left turn at the stoplight). We expect to be there by 12 p.m. for lunch. After lunch, we'll do a short protest along Rt. 249, then roll south on Rt. 249 (Willowcreek Road) to Portage.

The last stop on the RTA Express will be the Portage Walmart at Rt. 6 and Willowcreek Road. We should be there by 2 p.m. We'll finish the tour as we started it in Valparaiso, getting flyers out and driving through the parking lot. And we'll have a surprise for some lucky caravaner!

Meet up with us anywhere along our route. If you don't have the time to drive with us, come out to one of our stops and say hello! Just look for NWIPs' Old Glory--it will be flying over us as it has everywhere we've been. We'll have handouts and yard signs for you and your neighbors. Don't forget our RTA Express Sign-Making Party on Friday, October 16, 2009, at the pavilion on Edgewater Beach Road.
