This meetup is recommended for experienced practitioners (First time meditators are encouraged to attend at least several regular sittings prior to signing up for this meetup) since we will be sitting straight through for 50 minutes without any breaks. Feel free to join us as we go deeper into our practice of mindfulness. Come join like minded individuals and experience increased self awareness and inner peace by way of your journey inward.
**NOTE - NEW TIME: In 2013 we will be returning to our original meeting time of 7:00 pm so please arrive as close to 7:00 as possible. We will begin meditating by 7:15pm. This meetup should end by approximately 9:15pm.
**NOTE - NEW LOCATION: We are located at the intersection of Pfingsten & Maria (northwest corner). That's between Dundee & Lake Cook across from Underwriters Laboratories. If you you need additional help, please contact me prior to the closing of RSVP's & I will provide you with my cell #.
FORMAT: We will begin the evening with introductions followed by a brief period of stretching via several yoga positions before beginning our practice described as follows: We will start with a short five minute guided centering excercise and then sit in silence for an additional forty-five minutes simply focusing on our breath as the meditation object. When we finish there will be a shared reading, time for questions, reflection and mingling for those who would like to participate.
FYI: Chairs will be available for those who prefer to use them. For those who choose to sit on the floor, blankets, cushions & floorchairs are available but feel free to bring your own, meditation bench, pillow, yoga mat or zafu cushion if you prefer.
COST: A voluntary donation of $1.00 to help cover expenses would be most appreciated but is by no means expected.
If you have any questions about this particular sitting or our meetup group in general, please feel free to contact me. I am looking forward to sitting in practice and sharing energy in the present moment with all who choose to attend. Namaste, Mark Z
