Tonight our new friend Faye has generously offered to guide us in Laughter Yoga. Laughter Yoga is a physically-oriented technique that uses a perfect blend of playful, empowering and otherwise "tension-releasing" laughter and breathing exercises. These exercises are simple, structured and based on the philosophy of "acting happiness." They are appropriate and beneficial for all. You do not need to have a sense of humor, be happy or have any reason to laugh.

10 reported benefits from laughing: Laughter is a stress buster, it strengthens the immune system, is anti-aging, is considered aerobic exercise, it's a natural pain killer, it can control high blood pressure, it can reduce anxiety and depression, it improves our sense of humor, it alleviates bronchitis and asthma and finally, it just makes you feel good!

We will begin the evening with a centering exercise followed by an abbreviated 25 minute guided Metta (loving-Kindness) meditation. Please join us for something a little different!

**SUNDAY TIME: In 2013 we will be returning to our original meeting time of 7:00pm so please arrive as close to 7:00pm as possible. We will begin our meditation at 7:15pm. This meetup should end by approximately 9:15pm.

**SUNDAY LOCATION: We are located at the intersection of Pfingsten & Maria  (northwest corner). That's between Dundee & Lake Cook across from Underwriters Laboratories. If you you need additional help, please contact me prior to the closing of RSVP's & I will provide you with my cell #.

FORMAT: We will begin with some basic yoga stretches followed by a short centering exercise, introductions and then some brief instruction before beginning our practice described as follows: We will sit in silence for two fifteen minute sessions focusing on our breath as the meditation object. There will be a short break between the sessions for new practitioners to pause and readjust themselves if need be. More experienced meditators may practice all the way through both sessions without pausing if they so choose. When we finish there will be a shared reading, time for questions, reflection and mingling for those who would like to participate.

FYI: Chairs will be available for those who prefer to use them. For those who choose to sit on the floor, blankets, cushions & floorchairs are available but feel free to bring your own, meditation bench, pillow, yoga mat or zafu cushion if you prefer.

COST: A voluntary donation of $1.00 to help cover expenses would be most appreciated but is by no means expected.

If you have any questions about this particular sitting or our meetup group in general, please feel free to contact me. I am looking forward to sitting in practice and sharing energy in the present moment with all who choose to attend. Namaste, Mark Z

It was such an incredible joy to experience the enthusiasm, openness, and energy from each and everyone of you! We were all very much centered in the present. Thank you for allowing me to share the wonders of Laughter Yoga with you. I would be thrilled to continue to do this again.

I had a great time last night, what a blast! As I was driving into work I kept picturing all of us driving our imaginary cars and talking gibberish. LOL Just the thought of last night instantly makes me laugh. Thank you Faye for introducing me to laughter yoga. It would be great to bring this back to the group from time to time.

Thank you Mark for the powerful meta-meditation.

Faye, who would have thought that laughing yoga would be so profoundly impactful on the group? I arrived last night a bit troubled and; through your guided exercise, certainly along with the rest of the group, increased my level of happiness. The change in the group was quite apparent--- joy abounded! Thank you.

A delightful evening, well worth the perils of driving on a windy evening. Thank you Faye and Mark! In the interests of continuing the practice, I'm watching The Three Stooges before turning in for the night.

Thanks to those of you who are curious about the laughter program. Just come with an open mind and permission to allow yourself to be playful. All the rest will follow, and you will reap the rewards.

I'm in touch with my feminine side too... How do I foster that??? Cooking meditation?

Sorry I'll miss this one, but everything happens exactly as it should.

Mitch, maybe you can say that you are in touch with your inner child! I love Laughter Yoga because it helps you to connect with the pure unfiltered spontaneous joy of living in the moment by becoming playful. It has changed my perspective greatly.

Scientists state that children laugh over 200 times per day and adults chuckle only 4-5 times per day. Another example of how I'm childish. Hah!
