Extended Meditation Practice & Support @ NSUC

All teachers agree: The key to a successful meditation practice is regular practice. Therefore this meetup is looking for practitioners who are willing to make a dedicated effort to sit together weekly in order to fully realize the benefits of group practice. All levels and schools of thought are welcome. Meet like minded individuals while expanding your own personal practice in a non-competitive and supportive environment. Feel free to join us for a sitting and experience increased self awareness and inner peace by way of your journey inward.

TIME: Our meeting time will be 7:00pm so please arrive as close to 7:00pm as possible. We will begin our meditation promptly at 7:15pm. This meetup should end by approximately 9:30pm.

LOCATION: North Shore Unitarian Church (NSUC) is located in Deerfield on Half Day Road (Route 22) 1 mile west of Waukegan Road and 1/2 mile of the I-94 Tollway on the north side of the street. The church shares a driveway with 3000 Half Day Road. Look for their sign as you approach the building. Once you’ve turned into the driveway, you’ll take an immediate right to enter the church campus. The front door is in the back! Ample parking will be available at no cost. If you think that you might need some additional help locating us, please feel free to contact me prior to the closing of RSVP's & I will be happy to provide you with my cell #.

FORMAT: We will begin with a short centering exercise, introductions, some brief instruction and several basic yoga stretches before beginning our formal practice which is described as follows: We will sit in silence for two thirty minute sessions focusing on our breath as the meditation object. We will perform one period of walking meditation between these two sessions. When we finish there will be a shared reading or audio presentation, time for questions, reflection and mingling for those who would like to participate.

FYI: Chairs will be available for those who prefer to use them. For those who choose to sit on the floor please bring your own, meditation bench, pillow, yoga mat or zafu cushion.

COST: A voluntary donation of $1.00 to help offset expenses would be most appreciated but is by no means expected.

If you have any questions about this particular sitting or our meditation community in general, please feel free to contact me. I am looking forward to sitting in practice and sharing energy in the present moment with all who choose to attend. Namaste, Mark Z

I love the balance between the sitting meditation and the walking meditation . I liked the reading afterwards and the discussion that followed.

The Extended Meditation Practice & Support was filled with positive energy.
Everyone took turns reading out a book, and the discussion was very interesting. Of course, Mark is low key, a great facilitator and I am glad I attended with this nice group of people.

I can't wait to come back. I took a break because I went through a really hard time, but I've had a beautiful spiritual awakening and you were all in my thoughts and my heart the whole time. I kept waiting until it was time for me to return and now it is.
