"Oh Sh!t" Kit / Bug-In Kit, & Bug Out Bag Basics

Go-Bag, Bug Out Bag, Get Out Of Dodge Bag, Bug In Kit, whatever you call it, do you have yours organized, well-packed, and quick to grab?

If you had only 15 minutes to gather your family, water, food, and supplies and either lock, seal, & fortify your doors and windows or load it all up in your Bug Out Vehicle and hit the road, would you be able to do it in under 15 minutes?

This meetup will not necessarily focus on the individual items in each kit. Instead, the focus will be on how to organize and separate your items into multiple, modular kits, that build upon each other.

Let's share ideas on the following ways to organize your preps:
Level I (Every Day Carry)
Level II (Get Home Gear/Bag)
Level III (72-Hour Bag/Kit)
Level IV (1-4 weeks)

Level V (long term kit)

Personal Security
Shelter
Water Collection
Fire/Heat

First Aid
NBC (Nuclear, Biological, Chemical protection)

I truly appreciate all the time and organization that went into this meeting. I found the file online too and will be improving my preps and have expanded my vocabulary too. Ha ha. The more I know, the more I realize how much I don't know and have yet to prepare. To Kim - I didn't see your offer on the DVD until now. I will bring bland DVD next time! Or maybe you can upload to this Meetup? Thank you.

I really appreciate the structured compartmentalization that boots the chaos out; & what it took/takes to sift the problems down to an actionable structure. Thanks Chris, Mike, All!!
Really good to see y'all again :)

All of our meetups at Cabelas take place in the Cabelas conference room on the second floor, by the elevator and Bargain Cave.

So, when does this look like it's happening? I usually have training Saturday into sunday, but usually can get to stuff in the afternoons.

This sounds good. Can't wait for the date. Weekends are best for me. I get off of work at 7pm during the week.

A bug out one might be able to be done at a dennys or similar location. The firearms one, not so much.

    July 21, 2013

    • Chris

The Cabelas' conference rooms have worked nicely so far.

      July 22, 2013

  • Doug

When and where is this going to be?

    July 21, 2013

    • Chris

This will be held at Cabelas and most likely on a Sunday in the next couple months. I'm still working on the research and the meetup handout.

I have some items that use D and AA batteries, what is good for charging them from a 12 volt dc or a 120 volt ac system?

    July 21, 2013

  • Jim H

Hi, New here. I noticed "Need a Date and Location". What are the parameters for your location, I just might have something available.

    • Chris

Hi Jim, weekends are preferred and a venue in the northwest valley is most convenient for most of the group members. We're also looking for a venue for our "firearm cleaning and maintenance" meetup.

Weekend days are BAD for me: hope we can do this on a weeknight, or less preferably a weekend night? And scheduled at least 6 wks. in advance?

    Nice.
