Thursday Night Wine Tasting/Class

Robert Volz here, I like wine and love sharing my wine passion with you.

Come on by. Don't worry if you are late. I have 8 fun new small producer bottles to share and talk about. Yes, there will be snacks bordering on a full meal.

$5 gets you wine and food and maybe a new respect for a varietal you weren't as familiar with.

Jakki, I'm sorry you didn't have a good time the other night. For those who have come to this before, I have been wearing a knee brace. Earlier in the week I had reconstructive knee surgery, followed by a nasty reaction to the anasthegic. This last week, I pretty much stayed in bed except for 2 hours prior to the class. Normally I put out too much food and then give the excess to a local homeless camp. Unfortunately, you came on the one time my food was minimal at best, and I am truly sorry. There should have been more.

In fact, because of the lack of heartier fare, I didn't push the $5 fee and only begrudingly took money when it was placed in my hand. Even though there were some 39 people there, I collected $35.

Also, on the point that you made about being out of some wines because you were late: I start late, around 6:15 to try to alow those who need to feed their dog, change, Etc to make it in a reasonable time. Then I start with the lightest wines working towards the heartier

Hey Jakki, I'm sorry the event did not live up to your expectations, but since these events are open to the public and an incredible bargain ($5!), it can be difficult for Robert to know exactly how many people to expect. These are very casual, informal events that do not require a pre-payment to attend. Sometimes Robert has a lot of food, sometimes he doesn't. But for $5 it's hard to go wrong. As the popularity of this event grows, it would be wise to get there as close to 6:00 PM as possible to ensure that you get to taste all of the wines.

We really appreciate all of Robert's efforts to do this fun, affordable event and look forward to seeing more of you at the next one!

  • jakki DOES kind of matter if you are late as they were out of the first three wines when I got there at 6:30......AND there were NO snacks...much less bordering on a "full meal". Robert was informative and charming...just feel the posting is misleading or just not up to date.....please let people really know what to expect.

Any chance we could stop using the word "tonight" in the title of this event that is, in fact, not "tonight"? When I get an email that says "wine tasting/class tonight", I kinda expect it to be "tonight". Thanks.
