Having begun life in Boston, Massachusetts as Quite Write, a general writer's group (which now has over 550 members), we here in Sacramento are focusing on screenwriting.
We have joined forces with the Capital Film Arts Alliance and now host a variety of meetings relating to screenwriting. Consequently, we will be changing up this site at some point. But, no worries, it's all to make it even better.
We have meetings geared to beginners, scene reads, and workshopping meetings for the more advanced. We offer table reads where you can hear your words read aloud by real, live actors. (Fun!) We also have access to the CFAA's regular member meetings for filmmakers of all stripes. Been thinking about producing your script? Now you can find people who want to help you do it!
All these meetings, three each month, will be listed here on NQW. Or, you can find out more by going to the CFAA's Facebook Page. If you really want to stay in the loop, request their free weekly newsletter and you'll get all kinds of local film/writing news and tips.
Not Quite Write also has some Perks to offer you. Focal Press Books gives all members a whopping 30% discount on their books. They have a nice selection of film and media books, with a smaller selection of great screenwriting books.
Need a website for your script, graphic novel, etc? Author Media wants to offer you $100 off their website package. Not too shabby!
Finally, our newest sponsor, Act Four Screenplays, would love so much for you to try out their story analysis method, Story Maps, they're willing to give you a consultation that normally costs $149 for only $49. That's $100 or 66% off for you math-phobic writers out there.
And all these are available to you with a free Not Quite Write membership. Check them out at the lower left here.
More importantly (to me, at least), please check us out, every 2nd and 4th Tuesdays nights at the Art Institute of Sacramento. Although writers do wind up spending lots of time alone in our own heads, it juices our creativity to get out and commune with other artists. Hope you meet you soon!
