My name is Heather and I am fairly new to Notaclub. I walk Lilydale Lake with another group I'm in, and thought some of our Notaclub members might like to come along too. It's a shorter walk than Lysterfield Lake, between 3 and 5kms, depending on which route we take on the day. There are a couple of gentle slopes, but no real steep sections, unless we go up the hill near the nursing home, near the end of the walk. It's a lovely place to walk, though we don't get to see the Kangaroos that are at Lysterfield Lake, there are plenty of water birds and the occasional Kookaburra. The lake walks are open to pooches, but they must be kept on a lead and pooh bags will need to be carried.
We meet by the park bench, near the track down to the boat ramp, at the end of the first car park on the left as you enter the park.
Time: 10 am sharp.
Route: The walk will vary from week to week, depending on who turns up and whether we have our pooch friends along for the walk too. After the walk we will head for the Blue Turtle Cafe (222 Main St, Lilydale) for tea/coffee and brunch. I will book a table just before the walk, so I know numbers. Please feel free to join us even if only for a cuppa. It's a new addition to the walk, and has become a great addition. (BBQ's may happen in the warmer months.)
This event will be repeated every Sunday at 10 am. This event is also advertised on the Mount Evelyn Walking & Adventure Group (MWAG) page, so we may have some MWAG members along too.
Weather: Unless its absolutely pelting down, or extreme heat in summer, we will soldier on. So please bring wet weather jacket and gear so you will be as comfortable as possible regardless of the weather.
Please let me know if you are running late or can't attend at the last minute so we can either wait or not be concerned that you haven't turned up.
Hope to see your there :)
