*Managing Depression can be a very isolating experience for a sufferer. The stigma that is attached to the illness can be a further source of marginalization.
Furthermore those caring for a depressed person also need to be supported with useful tools and information
*Recovering from the condition is very much a community event, as well as an individual experience. Knowing that there are other people in similar situations, with whom one can share experiences, is an important part of our recovery.
*The Nottingham Depression Support Group was created for this very purpose. To bring those with a common experience together. To share those experiences, and thereby help one another with information, moral support, good will, well wishes, and encouragement.
*If you are a newly diagnosed survivor we particularly want to support and encourage you in the hope that recovery is indeed both possible, and worth you pursuing. You will find many people here, who have been where you are, and would gladly exchange info and experiences. We expect to keep posting here, as much useful information, tools and tips, about recovery as we can find
*Those who are further along in their own recovery could assist those who are at the beginning stages, and like wise those at the beginning stages of recovery could help those further on, to appreciate just how far they have come in recovery.
*For those who are not able to meet up physically, due to distance, time, or mobility limitations, this forum was set up as a means for depression survivors to communicate, and connect with one another via the net. We welcome anyone whose life is being affected by depression to join this group.
*If you are a professional such as a nurse, counselor, social worker, therapist, minister, or medical doctor, we welcome your contributions and expertise, and hope to share with you our heartfelt experiences as survivors. If you are a survivor, we recognize you have a unique experience, to add to our understanding of the condition and welcome your presence here as well as your input.
*For Everyone, I would say it's like everything else in life. We tend to get out of a group experience such as this, exactly what we are willing to put in. So you are encouraged to keep coming back here as often as you can, and we look forward to experiencing our full and complete recovery.
*We Wish You All The Success, Joy And Happiness, That You Deserve!
