Italian - Come Dine With Me

Dear members,

Below is an idea that I proposed to the group a few months ago, and at that time there was quite a bit of interest from many members.

As we are all aware the future of the group is being discussed this Thursday 24th June 2010, and should the outcome of this meeting mean that the group will continue, I would like to add to the agenda my idea which I suggest will take about 20 minutes to discuss.

The Idea - Italian come dine with me:

Let?s take advantage of this wonderful summer that is in store for us, by getting out there in our gardens and hosting 3 dinner parties or BBQs, in which we will explore and share in some great Italian meals.

There will be 3 sub- groups that will over the next 3 months (July, August, September) host their own Italian dinner party.

The great learning experience:

? There are 4 people that make up a sub-group.
? Between them they will devise the menu.
? The hosting sub-group will set the date and time for their dinner party.
? They all go shopping in preparation for the dinner party.
? The shopping budget is between ?5 and ?10 per head (TBC).
? Each person attending a dinner party will pay in advance for their meal to the host group.
? Someone within the hosting group will talk about their shopping experience and share with their guests the Italian foods purchased, and what is on the menu for tonight?s meal.
? There will also be an opportunity for guests to ask questions about the ingredients, and hopefully get used to pronouncing the foods in Italian

? Keeping the Italian theme in mind each hosting sub-group will provide entertainment in the form of a game, such as charades, treasure hunt, pictionary etc. (other ideas for games are welcome).

? Each hosting sub-group will decide upon the venue, this could be someone?s home, or a pub if you?re on good terms with the landlord.

Overall this idea is not set in stone and if anyone has any suggestions to add please do so.

Many thanks
