Winter Walk

Organic Gardeners Winter Walk

Our winter walk is this Sunday - Barrie our chairman has planned a great route for us - including pub lunch -(see below) if anyone needs a lift just let me know.

Dear Everybody

We meet at the Tithe Green car park at 11am. Its very easy to find. You drive out of Nottingham on the Ollerton Road  until you come to a well marked cross roads showing Blidworth on the left and Tithe Green on the right. Turn right and the car park is almost immediately on the left. Tithe Green is about seven miles out of Nottingham. We will leave our cars in the car park and walk a little along the road towards Oxton, turning off left by a marked footpath which we follow to a point about 500 yards north of the village, emerging onto a minor road having crossed the dual carriageway Oxton Bye- Pass.

We will walk left along the minor road turning off at  the Millenium footpath sign on the right which we follow up hill  until we join Windmill Lane. Here we have a choice; we can either follow the footpath across an extremely muddy field or take a detour which is a slightly longer way to the OLD OX iron age camp and Robin Hood Hill. If the day is fine, there are good views from the top. Pity it wont be picnicking weather!

When were ready, we retrace our last several steps and join Wind mill lane, walking gently into Oxton. As the Green Dragon is booked up until "2pm, I thought it best to book us into the Bridge Inn at around[masked] instead. Its a friendly pub, food Ok nothing special but good range of beers. Landlady Jane can provide cobs or equivalent or they do a Sunday carvery. She is keeping the Snug bar for us.

Its rather nice because when we get to the bottom of Windmill Lane, we can enjoy a walk through the village to reach the Bridge Inn. OK, after lunch we follow a footpath back to Tithe Green which in part will be familiar but looks altogether different the other way round!!

We need to be back at the car park before dusk .so as its about a 20 minute walk back we need to start back by say 3pm to be extra safe.  I'm hoping to dish out a brief description before we start.  I hope this sounds enticing.
