Saturday Garden Work Party and lunch

Volunteer meetup gardeners are welcome to join our regular work parties. These will continue every other Monday and Saturday from 10am till 2pm.

What do we do?

We start off with a cup of tea and sometimes a slice of cake or a biscuit while we walk around the site looking at tasks that need to be done. For example there might be potatoes to dig up, cabbages to plant out and seeds that need to be sown. Then we will get stuck in with a task. Some people like digging or moving the compost more than others who might just want to pick some things for lunch!

After a vigorous morning of gardening activities and talking we stop for lunch at 1pm. It's all cooked from produce grown on our site and normally consists of a wonderful veggie soup, steamed greens and some spuds (not such a great year for potatoes but we tried). Then we have a leisurely tidy and finish off any jobs and that's it!

Who goes to these work parties?

We have a core group of around 15 members that regularly go down to the garden on a Saturday. They are interested in organic gardening (hehe), good food and spending time outside.

Other information

Access is by the main gate from Wilkinson Street. If the gates are locked, please call site mobiles that are posted to the gate.

These sessions are FREE to members and include a lunch cooked on site from our produce. All that we ask is that you come and give us a hand doing some gardening or just come in for a chat and a hot drink! You can call in for 5 minutes or stay for the duration.

Please wear suitable clothing and RSVP so we know that you are coming

      Hi Robert,
Once through the main allotment gate, walk into the allotment until you get to the car park. Turn immediately right past the compost toilet and we are the allotment in the corner with the double gates and Nottingham Organic Gardeners written on the gate. I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
