Springtime Walk. Baslow and Chatsworth Estate

A circular walk start at the Robin Road Inn ( A619 Chesterfield Road ) taking in a variety of terrain from the quite rugged Baslow Edge to the more formal Chatsworth Estate.

The planned walk length is 7 miles and includes 850 ft of ascent. I would rate the walk as moderate, much of the walk is on clearly defined trails so suitable for walkers of most ability including capable teenage children. Dogs should be ok but please keep them on a lead particulary within Chatsworth. If you intend to take a Dog please let me know so that I can check for any currently unforeseen problems.

If we make goodtime and the group is willing further exploration of the Chatsworth Estate is possible which might add up an an additional 2 miles of light walking.

I plan to stop for lunch in Chatsworth and for a drink at the pub at the end. Hot meals are available from the pub but please bring a packed lunch as oppotunities for food and drink are limited during the walk itself. Make sure to bring enough water and as it's still quite cold, warm ideally waterproof clothing is a must. Some parts of the walk could be muddly so proper walking footware is very much encouraged and trainers much discouraged.

If you need any more information please ask me on my email [masked]. I will add my mobile nearer the time for last minute enquiries.

Please be aware that the group will set off at 10.45am. Please allow plenty of time for your journey so as not to delay other walk members who may have important reasons to be back. We will be back at the start point by 4.00pm latest. Nottingham Centre to start point via M1 = approx 1 hour according to google.

latest weather is about 8 degrees with sun and showers. Make sure you carry something that can cope with the rain. It the weather turns bad I will avoid some of the more exposed parts of the walk. I don't think it seems that rainy though. See you at 10.30ish
