Tchaikovsky's classic ballet is broadcast live in in 3D from the historic Mariinsky Theatre in St Petersburg. For the first time ever, Swan Lake is presented live from the city where it was created. The ballet is captured in 3D by Cameron Pace Group - the company behind hit movies Avatar, Hugo and Life of Pi. This landmark broadcast celebrates 275 years since Russian ballet began, and includes both Russian and international performers. "We perform Swan Lake because this ballet was born in our city and our theatre," says Yuri Fateev, Deputy Director of Mariinsky Ballet. Audiences will be transported to a breathtaking world where lovers Prince Siegfried and swan-princess Odette/Odile (Ekaterina Kondaurova) must overcome the forces of evil. Tchaikovsky's exquisitely lyrical score is complemented and enhanced by the peerless choreography of Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov. Directed by former Royal Ballet dancer Ross MacGibbon, this is an unmissable treat, for ballet fans and newcomers alike.
