Darley Park Concert

An evening of classical music and fireworks in the stunning setting of Darley Park

The Darley Park Concert

Come along and be part of the 30,000 strong crowd at the UK’s biggest free outdoor classical concert, in the stunning natural amphitheatre that is Darley Park. An evening of classic music and fireworks – don’t forget your picnic!

Its a FREE event!

With Sinfonia Viva.  This years concert theme is time.  Full programme here:

http://www.derbylive.co.uk/whats-on/the-darley-park-concert1

Parking: concert car parks will charge - so you may want to find urrounding roads.

We will meet up at 5.15pm at the Abbey pub (on Darley Street in Darley Abbey on the edge of the park), and then walk straight into the park together so we can find a space.

The concert starts at 6pm with entertainment from "The Big Sing" and then the concert starts proper at 7pm.

The event is also on the Derby Sociables site - we will try and sit near the Derby group IF we can, for those who know people in both!

For those who arrive later - I plan to bring a giant (green) bamboo cane from my garden, as a marker for our group, which should be unique!!!  So look out for this.  Otherwise we will try and put up where we are on the site once sat down in the park if possible and will send out a mobile no to those signed up the day before (though coverage can be mixed).

What to bring?

Bring a picnic with you (either for yourself or to share with others!) something to sit on on the grass, a jumper perhaps for later on and waterproofs in case (but of course it will be dry and sunny:), a torch for when it gets dark.

Oh - and bring your 'ooohs' and 'aaahs' for the fireworks! :)

Looks like it's going to be a bit chilly this evening after the lovely summer we've been having. Make sure to bring something warm to drink and wear, or camping chairs to sit on if you prefer. And be sure to look out for Emma's bamboo cane if you're planning to join us later. See you all later :)

Also just to warn you, the mobile reception at Darley park is bad

Why do you need to team up with another Meetup group if there are already loads going?

    July 16, 2013

    • Liam

I'm not going to ignore my mates just because they signed up via another group. That'd be pretty infantile. The more the merrier!

      August 4, 2013

    • Monica

It would save me traipsing between the two groups if I decide to go. I think it's a perfect example of the whole point of meet up! There isn't competition between the groups, we're just very sociable :)

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
