Summer Cycle Ride (Bank Holiday Weekend)
To make it easier for people the route has 2 meeting points:
• Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem 11.45am - 12 Noon
• Riverbank Pub at Trent Bridge by the car park at the rear 12.30 -12.45
Please be at either meeting point at the start time as in 11.45 at the trip to jerusalem or 12.30 at the riverbank, as we WILL leave at 12 in the city and 12.45 at the riverbank at the latest!!
The route is mostly part of the 'Big Track' which is an organised cycle route in Nottinghamshire.
The Big Track is a circular 10 miles long ride which starts in the city then heads down to the enbankment, from here it follows the river Trent all the way to Beeston marina where there is a place for refreshments. Then the choice depending on time we can extend a further 3 - 6 miles and cycle around Attenborough nature reserve before heading back to Beeston and then following the canal all the way back to Nottingham city centre.
This route is on cycle paths throughout - cycling mostly along side the river Trent and Nottingham canal.
Obviously to participate in this event you need a bicycle,
As on cycle paths and away from traffic its optional to wear a cycle helmet, personally its best to be safe than sorry but your choice.
Dress appropiately for comfort, dont forget a drink along the route too.
Optional useful items to bring: a cycle repair kit/pump and spare inner tube.
Waterproof jacket & sunglasses.
Check before cycling that your bike is road worthy for the ride, pumped up tyres and working parts are lubricated.
We will take it at a leisurely pace keeping together and pausing when ever needed.
