"Are You experienced" Jimi Hendrix Tribute band - The Flower Pot Derby

A Tribute to the late and legendary Jimi Hendrix famous for such tracks as Foxy Lady and All along the Watchtower.

I have been to see this Tribute Band 3 x before and they are fantastic. Without doubt the best Tribute I have seen and I would say the ultimate level a tribute act can ever aspire toward. The band obviously revolves around Jimi who excels in the part. They are a really fun act  with lots of audience involvement and the frontman is a wonderful entertainer who builds up his act to a dramatic finale. The Band featured a few years back in a BBC documentary about Tributes, this is what the Editor of that documentary said about them -

"when John Campbell ( Jimi ) was up on stage, we glanced at each other in disbelief as he went so deftly and with such brio from The Star Spangled Banner into Purple Haze. We were buzzing for hours afterwards...never had such a good time working on anything!"

My plan is to get an early bus to Derby ( the Red Arrow take 35mins - leaves the Victoria Centre at 6.00pm ) and costs around £4. Once in Derby I will run a mini pub tour, a couple of places in the City centre, before making it over to the Flower Pot to get there at 8.00pm. The gig itself will kick of at about 9.00. The FP is a great venue and worth just going to Derby for on it's own. You may make your own way if it pleases you. The last fast bus is 10.50 so you will miss a bit of the act if you want to catch it. There are late night buses back but they do take a lot longer sadly, around an hour, I will likely stay for one of these though. I will bring a time table so that people can see what suits them best.

I would encourage car sharing so if your happy to give somebody a lift then offer in the comments. Car Parking is available very near the venue.

Generally you can get tickets on the night but it would be best to book to avoid disappointment. Tickets are £9 from - http://www.rawpromo.co.uk/

if you want to sample some of the act before hand you can get a taster on their website http://www.areyou-experienced.co.uk/main.htm

You don't have to be a big fan but if this kind of music at all appeals that I guarantee you will enjoy it. Anybody with an interest in the Guitar will be blown away by the quality of playing which is second to none.

Check out nearer the time for the latest travel news. As it has worked before I will be wearing my blue wool hat to aid identification.

I have checked the bus time tables. The fast buses run late on Fridays only. It's luckly we are there on Friday. I will aim for 23.20 as the next one is 00.15. I will see what the state of play at 23.00 is as no point waiting in the cold. Journey back to Nottingham Vic Centre is 30mins

The weather is a bit chilly tomorrow so I might alter the stop at the Brunswick to the Old Silk Mill that is much less out of the way and only about 2 mins from the Dolphin.

Sounds like a XXXX good craic, so count me in. I'll travel with you on the bus at 6.00, and join you on the mini pub-tour. So if you see a strange-looking character near Victoria Station staring intensely at blokes with expensive hats, don't be too concerned, it'll just be me.

I'll keep an eye out for you. I'll wear a leather jacket as well. Couldn't find expensive hat last night, it might be in the washing. It it doesn't turn up I will be wearing my cheap ( £1 ) black hat.

Hi Steve ... I'll catch the 6 pm bus with you if that's ok. I should be there on time, but don't worry if I miss it as I'll catch up with you in one of the pubs en route :o)

Well, I will be here for this now. Not going away until after xmas now. That means the plans are per the original event description. I will be happy to meet people at the bus stop at 6 or at the venue. I will be there at 8.00 and go in for the band at 9.00. Please text me[masked] if you plan to meet part way or cannot find me at the venue. I will be wearing my expensive ( £4.50 ) blue hat. The band starts at 9.00ish. The venue isn't the biggest so you should be able to find me inside even if you get there post 9. Best not to ring me as I sometimes miss the calls but I do answer texts. I imagine I will do The Brunswick and le Olde Dolphin pubs before the event but this may change if the weather is bad as they are a bit of a walk.

I have been told by work that I might be going away next week. If this happens I will likely not be able to go on this event. I won't cancel it but when I know all my travel details I will leave a message. If I cannot go there is no reason that one of the attendees cannot run it in my absence. I will happly change the event description to amend to that persons plans. If I cannot get anybody willing to come forward and run it then I will cancel it about a week in advance. I thought it best to keep you all informed so you have plenty of time to consider your arrangements.

I have to be a 'maybe' for now, but having seen this band at the Flowerpot a couple of times in the past I agree they are brilliant!
