Broadway Jazz Explorations

Hugh Pascall’s jazz quintet, The Song Is You, have been playing a monthly residency in the Broadway Cinema Cafebar and this is the final gig in the current series.

Come along to the Broadway Cafebar to enjoy a couple of hours of sublime instrumental virtuosity as The Song Is You perform their ‘unique arrangements (and improvisations) of jazz standards’ and ‘revisit jazz’s golden era of the 50s and 60s’. The band (a relatively youthful bunch) attracts a varied crowd of appreciative punters and the Cafebar serves a wide range of drinks, with food specials and snacks available until 9pm.

Entry is free and the band should be doing their thing from around 8.30pm.

Incidentally, to add a little heritage flavouring, Broadway began life in 1839 as a Wesleyan Chapel and the columns of the original building can be seen through the present day glass frontage. It was in this building that William Booth, founder of the Salvation Army, dedicated his life to God.

Temperance on the night is optional.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
