Pure on Raw, Sheffield / Veggies Day Out

Based on poll most suitable date is 21 April:

http://www.meetup.com/Nottingham-Vegetarian-Vegan-Meetup-Group/polls/760822/

Chance to try out the new Raw Restaurant in Sheffield which I have just heard is amazing from a fellow vegan who has tried vegan friendly places all over Europe and declares this is his favorite - so am hoping for great things!

http://www.pureonraw.co.uk/cafe.php

We can car share if people don't have a car.

Update: The more recent poll (sent to those who were signed up for the event last week) suggested there was slightly greater interest in a shorter walk and a less strenuous day so the plans will now be as follows:

For those who are walking, Ladybower is closer to Sheffield and we can make a nice 2 hour scenic walk around part of the reservoir.

If you are joining the walk, we will meet in the Upper Derwent Visitor Centre car park (Fairholmes, Bamford, Hope Valley S33 0AQ) at 10:30am outside the Visitor Centre. Make sure you are suitably equipped with waterproofs, drink, suitable footwear etc and please be on time so we can get to the restaurant in good time. This will be a short 2 hour walk with views of the reservoir and surrounding countryside which are meant to be superb.

I am hoping to start walking at 10:30. We can wait for 10 minutes (max) for any stragglers though if you are not there by then and we have not heard from you we will assume your plans have changed and start walking so call me when you arrive.

For those who simply want to meet us there, Table has been booked for 1:30pm.

Please let me know on your RSVP if you are walking and dining or just dining and also if you can offer lifts or need a lift.

So far there are 14 of us in total so we may practically fill the small cafe/restaurant!

Would suggest near the train station or depends wherever is easy to get to for whoever is taking the fiesta. If we walk and it's muddy, my sister who lives in Sheffield said we can use hers to freshen up if we wanted :)

Maybe see many of you tomorrow to make a plan. Was going to open it to the Leicester veggies too - llke a veggie day out, though even more of a trek for them!

Walk sounds good. Builds up the appetite! Where could I meet you for a lift?

Happy to collect people via Nottingham though may make sense to just do the one pick up/drop off from the City Centre. Can take 3 people or 4 at a squeeze as my car is only little.

Anybody else up for a (mis)guided walk before we eat? Kinder Scout is a good one and is not too far from Sheffield - I think the walk is around 6-7 miles so not too strenuous, though can be windy and has jacobs ladder to climb... or I'm sure there are plenty of others in the area.

This will be great! Can I get a lift please? I will be living in Sherwood, but can aim to get nearer the city centre if necessary

Hi Clare, can I take up your offer of a lift if still available please?

Would be grateful for a lift from West Bridgford or Nottingham City Centre. Cheers

I am happy to drive a fiesta full from Notts, would cut down the carbon foot print of taking many cars and mean we were more mobile once there if this is helpful. Will give the event a bit longer to gather interest and then those of us who are interested can set the date and make final plans for the day :)

I went raw food for a while. The food is delicious, but just didn't have the time. Maybe try again this summer. These dishes take a lot of prep, all that sprouting, dehydrating etc. The prices don't look bad either. I don't know any other raw food cafes outside London. There was one in Brighton, which did not last long. So it needs as many customers as possible to make a go of it.

Looks well worth a visit - current opening hours (10am-3pm in week and 12-7pm at weekends) would mean a weekend trip I think (train seems to be around 1hr/ £13 return). Quite a few other places to visit according to http://www.sheffieldvegans.net.
