Raw Vegan Pot Luck Meal

  • September 7, 2014 · 1:00 PM

Based on the poll have gone with Sunday 7th September.

A chance to try out your raw vegan culinary skills and sample a range of raw vegan courses.

The plan is to hold a meetup at my house in Bakersfield (not far from the Carlton Hill shops).

To keep the meal balanced I suggest a maximum of 3 people make sweets and everyone else make a main or starter (I will be making a main). I suggest making enough of your dish so that everyone can get a taste but bear in mind how many other courses there will be.  To help with this please could you enter in the comments if you are bringing a starter, a main or a sweet.

What is the easiest way to get there! Is it walkable from town? 30 mins? from Hockely area?

Sorry i cannot come to this now. I have been invited to visit Hillside Animal Sanctuary in Norfolk for the day. It's an opportunity i really cannot miss. Hope you have a lovely lunch.

My sister Gill is a friend of hers, and took me to Hillside to see it and meet Wendy. We stayed overnight at her house - and managed to avoid being mauled by the pack of rescued dogs guarding the inner sanctum! An experience never to be forgotten!!

Hi Guys! If anyone drops out, I would love to come along. I will try make one of the other meet ups. All your food sounds yummy! I made a mean vegan cheese cake the other day. Want to share raw food and meet new people.

I have been including some of the things I make on the #Govindasnotts Instagram page, which I recently set up on a volinteer basis. Hope to meet you all soon! xx

Yes hi everyone. Looking forward to our meetup. I will be doing two starters, sushi rolls, as in a raw nori wrap. And some more little finger treats, I'm hoping chaat or something similar on bBy lettuce leaves. These could be pre starter snacks if we fancy nibbles.

Could I ask why there is a limit on places..

Hi Rob might be too much of a squeeze otherwise.

I will do a dessert. I think it will be a raw vegan cheesecake. ( fresh orange juice with a chocolate base).

Fantastic to see that all the places have gone. By the way, don't feel sorry for me. My Saturday booking in London is with a friend who's fairly recently gone completely raw vegan, and loving every minute of it. :-) I've also had another idea: because raw vegan is really an organic commitment as well, which makes it more expensive still, any new group or sub-group could also be used for bulk purchasing, esp of dry foods. I look forward seeing you all at the next one! :-)

Think I will either try to make a starter called Ensalada Mexicana or a raw spinach dip. Either way I'll stick to making a starter.

It's unfortunate that this is the day I'm unlikely to be able come! I'll be in London on Saturday evening, but if I can make it I will. Whichever, enjoy sharing!

Hope you can make it Peter. If not will have to arrange another raw meet up soon.

:-) Thanks Ruth - but it might not be a bad idea to have frequent raw meet ups anyway. It makes it a lot more fun to stay on track. Maybe a sub-group or new group called Rawing Notts Vegans (for example) might be in order - a lion's head with a mane of broccoli could be its symbol! :-D

I'll bring a seed cheese and crackers
