Blind tasting of great Sauvignons from around the world

The idea was to explore the idea of super-premium or ‘icon’ Sauvignon Blanc by means of a blind tasting of a broad range of Sauvignons from around the world. In effect, the session is match game between Sauvignon birth place of Sancerre and Pouilly Fume versus the rest of world obviously including the most prominent Sauvignon growing regions of New Zealand, South Africa, California, Chili, etc.. On the French side, the Sancerre appellation will be represented by the elite of the local wine making production : Cotat, Mellot, Bourgeois, Vacheron or the celebrity Didier Dagueneau

Hope you all enjoyed the evening last night. I am going to try to wrap everybody's notes and produce some kindof report. Next session will be focusing on the best Shiraz wines from Australia and Rhone valley. Proably around the 11th of October.

Sounds good. Let me know if you want / need to use my house in Carlton as a venue. I can get 20 people in lounge diner, I might just have enough chairs including garden furniture!

One of my favourite English wine merchants. Have some Cote Rotie from good producers for £35 - 40 per bottle. Maybe worth getting for an upcoming tasting?

Hi Rob. Indeed, the site is interesting. I get most of the wine I am after on the internet. The wine makers given are also top class : Niero, Chave, Barge, etc... thanks for the tip

A superb evening. I didn't know such a thing was possible in Nottingham. Unfortunately you've re-awakened my taste for the finest wines, I know it will cost me money lol Thanks for sharing the Didier Dageneau Silex, a moment to treasure.
