Orpheus: Don't Look Back

...re broke at today at Burgoyne Preparatory School in Vernon, NY. The four alarm blaze consumed much of the auditorium and gym of the school before spreading to the main school building. An investigation in the aftermath of the fire revealed that around fifty teachers, students, and local residents were killed in the auditorium, presumably by the fire. Three other students died in the main school building before the remaining 300 pupils could be evacuated...<static>...<laughter>...<static>...ffled as to why so many local residents were found dead in the auditorium, and why so many of these victims, who had allegedly been reported missing by family and friends, were gathered in one place, and why no investigation had been carried out to solve these crimes. Many of the bodies were badly burned, but injuries on several others have led the police to suspect foul play. Matthew Harriman, town sheriff, was apparently reopening investigations into the disapperances, which former Sheriff Schwarz had apparently not seen fit to pursue. Harriman was found on the grounds of the school suffering from a severe axe wound and had no recollection as to how he had reached the school. Firefighters report that Harriman himself had made the 911 call that brought firefighting teams to Burgoyne Prep, but Harriman denies any memory of those events.

Sheriff Schwarz continues to recuperate at a local mental hospital. His condition has been described as related to work stress and PTSD from a recent alleged kidnapping by Orpheus terrorists James Bond and Siouxsie Sioux.

Adding to the confusion at the scene, several teachers and administrators were found dead outside the auditorium, apparently slain by a variety of implements. Two had deep puncture wounds and injuries consistent with gunfire, but no bullets or other weapons were found. Another suffered severe blunt trauma, apparently having been struck by Harriman's squad car, which police located 4 hours away in Wildwood, NJ. Each of the administrators were found to have been clutching fire axes at the time of their deaths, possibly indicating the source of Harriman's injuries.

At present, the FBI has taken Harriman into custody for questioning. The remaining students of the school have returned to their families. However, debilitating mental illness seems to have plagued the surviving children. Many parents report severe depressive symptoms, nightmares, and other aberrant behavior. "Jonathan hasn't stopped crying since he came back," said local mother Amanda Caine, "He's just sobbing in his room, asking us if the 'general' is coming back. We don't know what to do."
