Olive Kitteridge by Elizabeth Strout

Pulitzer Prize winner Olive Kitteridge (click title for link to Amazon) by Elizabeth Strout is a collection of tales with recurring characters at different times of their lives, exploring their emotions, relationships, and view of the world. It's not exactly a novel, but more cohesive than a short story anthology. We'll call it a novel for purposes of this book club!

We read this book in March 2011, long before most of you were with us, and you voted to bring back this book. We'll read it again -- or for the first time -- and discuss it at Wyatt's house in Santa Rosa. I'll send out the address a few days before the event to those who RSVP yes.

Nothing wrong with getting to know people - helps in understanding what they bring to the book. No worries and HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!

I love this group; I always learn something I didn't see before, which gives me a deeper understanding. This is such a GREAT Meetup group! And thanks Joan for always keeping us "on track"!

I agree Christine. Yesterday's discussion took my appreciation of the book to a level I wouldn't have gotten to without others' input. Very stimulating!

I'm sorry I have to miss this one. I was looking forward to seeing Wyatt's new house - and all of you again. But I have had a cold for the last week - getting better, but I am sure nobody wants to listen to me coughing for 2 hours. See you next time!

I sent out the address 12/27, 11:45 am. If you RSVP after that, email me. Please keep your RSVP updated -- we have a large group coming, and we need an accurate count in case we need to cap the meeting. Thanks!

Sorry, but I had to change my RSVP to "no." I've offered to house/cat/chicken sit for friends in Lakeport giving them time to go to Santa Cruz to see their son and grandchildren who live in Africa. See you next time.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
