I just read all the Patrick Melrose novels of Edward St. Aubyn. There are 5. I couldn't stop! If you haven't read him before, you'll be amazed - something like a combination of Proust and Waugh, if they were describing heroin addiction and family dysfunctions... Very dark, philosophical, and introspective.... which I tend to love. I have enjoyed Nicole Krauss' books as well lately.
I need others' suggestions here.
I am looking forward to making friends - with both readers and new books. I love to discuss, analyze, and listen, basically.
I'm a sociology instructor "retired" to teaching only 2 classes, finding myself with lots of time, realizing I'd love to meet other book-lovers. But I need to catch up with novels! I've been steeped in sociology for years!
