Nyeek Drinks: Gateway Game Night (21+)

Just a reminder you can always play whatever you want at Nyeek; spotlight just means a particular type of game we focus on for that night.

SPOTLIGHT: GATEWAY GAMES

Games you played when you started playing boardgames. Easy to teach, but just enough depth to keep them interesting. A night where you can bring someone new to boardgames and hopefully make them see that your hobby isn't as weird as they think.

If you want to teach a gateway game please mention it in the comments.  If you don't have a copy I can probably loan you one.

Some examples include:  Settlers of Catan, Carcassonne, Ticket to Ride, Bohnanza, Alhambra, Blokus, Ra, Zooloretto, Pandemic, Forbidden Island, etc. etc...

Nyeek Drinks is our weekly game night at Amity Hall.  It's every Monday, but always check the listings to make sure!

RSVPs are strongly encouraged.  If you can't make it please remember to change your RSVP to "not attending".  If the RSVP list is full then join the waiting list.  You'll be sent an email if someone backs out and you can swoop in and take their place.

Most of the places we play at don't charge us a rental fee.  So please keep in mind not to bring outside food or drink, to purchase something from the establishment and to be respectful of the space in general.

Amity Hall runs us a special for the entire evening which is $5.00 for drafts in the book with the red writing, all the house liquor and domestic bottles.

It's ok. I think I will pass (I'm also sorry if you already went thought the trouble of separating). I'll explain tomorrow night why , I suppose.

You are definitely running a good deal for the bundle though.

Fiasco was fun! A nice change from strategy games (improv and role playing with no winners and losers). Amity is always a good space with good food and happy hour prices.

There were people interested in Fiasco at the last meetup so I'm going to try to run a game at this meetup. If you want to get in I'll be hanging out at the bar from 6 - 6:30. Just keep in mind the game will take 2+ hours and you'll be expected to do some light acting!

The Fiasco game went great and there were people interested who didn't get to play so I'll be running it again next week. It'll start at 6:30.

Only reason I gave it a four is because I showed up late and felt a little lost. Only so much can be done about that.

Sorry you felt that way. This meetup is somewhat unstructured. While some game categories may be suggested (last night was gateway games) its not a rule. typically people show up and either start up a game or sit down (if there is room) at a game that they may find interesting.

Eventually there's going to be a night where I don't learn a new game, but this one wasn't it! :D

Might run a tad late (or not) but should be there before 6.15.

Hey all, I'll be bringing the usual crew of games (focusing a little bit more on Gateway Games) and I'm sure other people will bring awesome games as well!

Since it seems like more people have gotten better about RSVPing I've raised the RSVP limit back up to 90. Don't think it'll go above that though and it may lower back down depending on how things go.

Also, just a heads up I have a friend in from from town who will be working close to the bar. I'll probably head off during the event at some point to say hey. So from anywhere to 30 to 45 mins during the event I'll be gone. I know it's not a big deal and won't affect anything, but I figured as organizer it would be silly not to mention it just in case.
