(PLEASE READ!) Wolves in the Park

So here's the rub.  Smithfield is not available for the next two weeks, but I don't want to have to cancel Werewolf Wednesday two weeks in a row.  My idea then is to play Werewolf in a city park somewhere.  I think it would be pretty awesome and kind of a great way to have a consistent location.  So I'm going to list some park locations down in the comments section and you should "like" the park you would want to try out.  Feel free to add comments and suggest your own park location as well!

I think this could be a pretty fun way to play Werewolf.  The only thing that may be an issue is that technically you're suppose to have a permit for gatherings over 20 people.  I think if we pick a quiet part of the park and keep things relatively low key this shouldn't be an issue.  There is a chance that we might have to split up though.  If a person or two brings Avalon though we can just split up and play different games.

Lemma know what you think about this.  I'll update the location sometime late tomorrow.

WEREWOLF!!!

You know it!  You love it!  Wednesday we play it!  Here's the rub the way I'm going to try and organize it.

I'll be bringing sharpies and name tags for people playing.  Use them and use your real first name/real nickname.

I'll also be trying to keep the game prompt and quick moving.  I love Werewolf, but I've been in one too many games that take forever.  To this end I will be trying out three tactics for this game night.

1)  I will start the first game at either 6.30 or 7.00 depending on when there's enough players.

2)  I will be timing the rounds for two minutes each unless during the later more tense rounds I want to give you guys more time to sweat.  I want to keep these games moving!

3)  If I'm talking please do not interrupt me or talk while I'm talking.  It's not a personal thing; it's just important for people to hear me for the game to go quicker.  If I constantly have to talk over somebody then there will be two deaths at the night phase.  The werewolves choice and mine.  :-p

Cheers and I'll see you all soon!

The park worked out really well! Thanks for organizing James!

Drat, the workers just left my place. Do you guys figure it is too late to run up, to get there at 9:30 or so? Do you think you'd be playing games much later than that?

We're on the lawn right now! We're very close to the fountain in a circle.

Shoot, I'm going to be late too. Workers have not finished in our apartment and I need to stay until they do. And I second the recommendation about bringing bug spray. I was hanging in Bryant Park yesterday at this time and got a crazy bunch of mosquito bites.

FYI am in Bryant park at the moment. Live jazz 6-7 tonight. Right at the fountain. I will leave and return at 730 about.

Is this game still on? Contemplating whether I can make it. Rockefeller Park on the River at Chambers Street would be an awesome choice for an outdoor game, for the future. River breeze. Sunset.

Dunno to be honest. Small games are good in a lot of ways. They go quicker and they usually mean more participation with the people who are actually playing.

As a note: me and my +1 wouldnt be there until 7-730ish, as we are coming from long island. i forgot to mention that earlier.

For BSG fans - am bringing BSG Daybreak expansion to the NY Boardgames Group which is near Bryant Park - 3 blocks away (2 W. 45th St, Cafe 45). I'll be going there first to see if there's any interested BSG players. Otherwise, I'll come to the Werewolf.

We will meet at the fountain at 6.30. At 6.30 we'll find a suitable location in the park and I will update the comments section to reflect where. It'll probably be pretty close to the fountain!

I'm sorry. Something came up for me this Wed, and I can't make it to Werewolf. I'm looking forward to playing next week though regardless of the location.

Hey, y'all I need more people to RSVP or else I might have to cancel the event. I'm shooting for at least 12.

What does everyone think about Thursday night at Smithfield this week instead of Wed??? I know James wants to keep Wed night but maybe this week (and next) can be an exception? Outdoor would be great this week, especially with the nearly full moon. BUT.. as Karen the vampire slayer points out mosquitoes. Also lighting to see cards when it starts getting dark if we play that late.

Otherwise I vote for Central Park, near the fountain close to restrooms.

Actually went ahead and asked them about Thursday. They say its too busy Thursdays.

Forget variety of trains, lets pick somewhere where werewolves can easily kill villagers without the NYPD interrupting.

    August 20, 2013

The location will be Bryant Park. I will change the description when I figure out the best place to meet in the park.

My first choice would be Bryant Park. Second choice would be Union Square. Let's pick someplace near a variety of trains.

Also, you may want to bring bug spray since dusk is high time for mosquitoes and you wouldn't want to be mistaken for a werewolf when you're just scratching a bite.

Doing it in Washington Square Park would be theater for onlookers heh. Especially since we'd HAVE to do it at the fountain.
