Join us for a fun time sharing God's love with the homeless this Saturday morning at St. George Orthodox Church in downtown Orlando. St. George is located at 24 N. Rosalind Ave. on the corner of Rosalind Ave and Wall St, right behind the Orlando Public Library where their drop off window is located. We will meet in the parking lot of St. George's at 11am. You can park in the parking lot of the church. There is no fee to park there. Please enter the 2nd entrance of the parking lot in order to be aligned for the proper angle of the parking spaces. * IF you park on the street you must pay the meter or you will be ticketed. If the meters are covered for 'no parking' due to an event you cannot park there or you will be towed!
Please bring food and other items to share. We will be on private property and will not be affected by Orlando's ordinance against feeding large groups. Items like sandwiches, pasta and rice dishes, chicken dishes, fruit, individually wrapped snacks and desserts and canned goods with pop-top lid are acceptable. The needy can also always use men’s & women’s clothes, tennis shoes (no hard soled shoes please), socks, toiletries, backpacks, blankets, bottled water and ponchos for rainy weather. We really need the men's clothes though. Any that you can donate would be great!
** We will not cancel if heavy rain is forecast for the downtown area. Please make your own decision about participating if inclement weather is forecast. A small crew will still go downtown to distribute limited items.
If you arrive early, please wait for the rest of the team before distributing your items to avoid causing confusion among the homeless. Thank you.
*** If there are any scheduled road closures downtown due to an event, Rosalind Ave is typically one of the closed streets. We can still get to the St. George parking lot by going left on Magnolia Ave off of Central Ave and then by turning right on Wall St. from Magnolia Ave. Wall St. is a one way street but it becomes a 2 way street during these closures. We can use Wall St. to access St. George in those instances. A notice will be sent to alert you of any events and road closures. If an unannounced event occurs and a notification email is not sent out, please follow this alternate route.
