Hey Jason,

Sorry for talking down to you. I wasn't at my best. I agree it is destructive. Hopefully I can learn a lesson from it. and hopefully we can laugh at it.. anyway, if you're willing to put the team first and focus on our immediate goals, I can see that as constructive team work.

Peace,

Alec

History is not your strong suit. The confiscation of gold occurred after the great depression was under way, so it was not a cause of it. Get it straight. The gold confiscation occured in the mid 30s. We were well into the depression then and the causes were from the speculation and expanded money supply.

And by the way, you are conflating "free markets" with "capitalism". And yes it is free markets that helped distroy the economy in the 1920s. Free markets mean currencies are also subject to being bought and sold as like securities can be speculated on. But people like you always like to ignore the issue of power. If I have the power to wreck a currency or an industry and make money off it, then under a free market I am able to do so, no matter the consequences.

Capitalism inevitabily leads to monopolies. Free market capitalism brings us to monopolies faster. Because, for you simple minded people, someone is always more powerful and richer than someone else. And since competition hurts your profit margin, you buy or distroy your competition to achieve a monopoly so you can fix prices. Eventually you become big enough to buy politicians, gov't, etc. Then you have what we have today.

Any by the way, can you point to where I said that free markets and capitalism have flourished through history?

I'm simply saying capitalism and a monetary system only serves self-interest. We as humans and as extension to other life forms in the universe need to look beyond simply ourselves, personal freedom to our community, Civic Freedom. Personal actions and behaviors have impact on every thing and living being on this planet, and in this universe. Free markets fails to address POWER and CORRUPTION. The monetary system fuels these problems. Free trade does not address sustainability and human consumption and conservation, and inefficiencies. BTW, free markets is NOT required to encourage innovation and creativity. Who killed the electric car? In 2008, we should be running on alternative vehicles by now, and I don't necessarily mean electric 'cars'. Our main form of transportation is still 'cars' on 4 wheels? One of the major motor company would stomp on the idea of anything different or even just buy them out. Another case in point - the vision for the internet was to enable people to connect to one another and to improve our lives as a community, to help each other and to get answers, hopefully receive and share meaningful information and real news, and the truth. Instead, it's become the main advertising/marketing vehicle for consumerism and purchase of materialism, most of which has no human value other than "things" we are manipulated and socialized to believe to need. Instead, a society that was built on the idea to use technology and the internet to address and improve social issues.

There's lot of room for discussion and improvements on Peter's message - one can't capture and address everything in a single movie, but it's a start. There are consequences and trade-offs. It's certainly better than what we have today, and in my opinion a free markets system isn't the solution. It can never work for a lot of reasons, such as power, corruption, crime, hunger, just to name a few. Free trade, capitalism is an out-dated economic system, and it's time that we research and begin to think and consider other models. The Venus Project is neither communism, socialism, or marxism. It operates at a higher intelligent and spiritual level, a completely different paradigm and way of thinking. My main point is that the possible solutions presented in Zeitgeist should not be dismissed so quickly. What we need is more dialogue and education on a different system.

IMHO - Zeitgeist was better than addendum. The thing I did not care for is that the movie just kept pushing the fantasy future where machines play a greater role in freeing up our lives so we can pursue other things. While I think this is possible, it's not likely to happen. This technology would be taken over by the elites. This same story has been fueling hopes of a few generations now, who were all sold on the Jefferson's space cities & cars. I think there will always be a form of money with our competitive nature. Basically, I agree with what Alex Jones critisisms of the movie, he nailed it on the head there. I did heard the interview on the radio & Alex jones came down pretty outrageous (making him look like a raving clown) but he had some good points. Still I wish he would have let Peter Joseph speak more.

Good point Stevo. The film did portray a fantasy where machines do the work and we sit around playing golf. However, I do not think "competitive" is necessarily part of our "nature". Money does not have to have a profit motive existing in currency. Romans had gold coins but they did not have capitalism. Trade is not capitalism. The Roman empire thrived on slavery and land seizure through force. Its funny how machines in the Venus project would take the role of slaves.
