OK_ so I have gotten this question often, and the answer is YES!! Please do bring drums, other musical instruments, cd's and whatever else you feel might enrich the day/night for everyone. (except maybe for snakes- I think the beach police would not allow that- sorry!) As for those of you who have asked about swords and fire, the "official answer" is the same as that for snakes, but the unofficial answer is, if we don't get caught it is ok. SOOOOO we might want to save those for the end of the night in case they kick us off the beach. That way, we would be leaving soon anyway so it would be no big deal. For our next beach party, I hope someone will host it at a more liberal beach so we can really cut loose. As I said before, I'm hosting at CDM because it's the beach I know best, so I can be a knowledgeable host :) OK. Any other questions? Wear sunblock, bring a hat, bring lots of water (echoes of my mother) and if you plan on staying all day, you will probably need to buy/bring food, as I cannot plan to feed people all day! But I will provide some munchies and water, just in case :) Please bring firewood if you have some lying around. You can also please bring paper you want to burn (nice for getting a fire going). Also this event is KID FRIENDLY- just remember to bring whatever is necessary for their comfort WITH you :)
I will be providing a stereo for playing cds. If you have something on a portable device you are dying to share- please bring speakers, etc. as I am still old-school and have only JUST NOW gotten an ipod, so i don't have all the techie accessories yet :)
I was going to say the next meeting at Sophie's would work well...but that's come and gone. What city do you live in? work in? It may be easier to just pick them up sometime.

Nice drumming and dance.

We had a great time. Thank you for all your hard work Sarah.
The drummers were awesome and saved the day when our cd player wouldn't work.
Lots beach goers come over and danced with us. *the lure of the drums* Sarah gave an great impromptu lesson.
We also learned what *not* to do at a beach meetup. LOL! Next one will be more organized, have better lighting and more help setting up and a back up CD player.

Migranine forced us to leave early. Had a good time while we were there. Thanks Sarah for organizing. If you can shoot me an email I heard a rumor you found or lost truck and baby wipes :P

Thanks to the drummers, that was a great success! Thank you Sara for organizing this one. I was hoping those people that RSVPd would have shown up. It was so much fun!

August 23, 2008
Good morning everyone!! Today's the day!!! I look forward to seeing you all there. I am going to try to get a firepit closer to the ocean than the parking lot, as i want us to have lOOOTs of room for dancing- so steer towards the water once you arrive!
August 23, 2008
Sarah, I think we can be there as early as 3PM. It'll be me and my boys enjoying the beach for the beachyness.
August 22, 2008
SOOOOO Is anyone coming to spend the whole day atthe beach who might want to come help Rachel and I set up?
August 22, 2008
Good question, Photo Joe! Since we are starting 6 ish, I plan on getting there to set up quite a bit earlier, as I don't want all the good rings taken before we get there. the fire will be lit at a bit before sunset unless people bring food to cook, in which case we will light it earlier.
August 22, 2008
What time is early Rachel? I assume you're going to lay claim to a fire-ring as well as going swimming?
August 21, 2008
Any word on when the fire will be lit?
August 21, 2008
THANK YOU RACHEL!!!!!! I am so grateful :) Please do bring the portable fold out table, soda and munchies. YES- people, if you have firewood of any kind laying around, please bring it! Or paper you want to burn, or effigies- no wait, never mind that last one :P...
Should I be charging a meetup fee?
August 19, 2008
I will help you set up. I plan on coming early so I can swim and enjoy a day at the beach.
What else do you need? I have a portable fold out table. I will bring that. I will bring some sodas and munchies too... those meetup fees at work. How about wood? Should people bring some if they have any laying around?
August 18, 2008
Kid friendly! bring 'em- but make sure they have everything they need (snacks etc.) as I will already have a lot of things to carry for the big Kids (adults) :0)
August 18, 2008
Double checking regarding my kids. They're 4 and 7. My 4 year old MAY attempt to dance. My older boy dances like his daddy (with his butt firmly attached to a seat.)
August 18, 2008
ALERT!!!! I am requesting help from at least ONE person to help me set up as I will have a lot to carry, and the last time I threw a beach party I needed someone to hold the "spot" on the beach while I brought stuff from the car. Any volunteers? You are also requested to help me set up the awnings as they can be finicky and tough for just one person! Pretty PLEASE?
August 15, 2008
BRING DRUMS and ANY Other musical instruments or CDs you'd like to hear/dance to!!!
