Skiing & Snowboarding at Big Bear March 1-3 [OCGL]

  • March 1, 2013 · 9:00 PM

Note: This event is currently full.

Hey guys, let's go to Big Bear March 1-3! We'll drive up Fri, ski/ride Sat and Sun, and drive back Sunday evening.  For Saturday night we'll eat dinner, play games like Catchphrase, and relax in the hot tub!

In addition to our condo, other costs for the weekend will include lift tickets, food, gas, and (if needed) gear rentals and lessons. Check out the Snow Summit trail map here. Driving to Big Bear means 2.5 hours of awesome conversation and car games. :)  I'll be helping organize carpools a week ahead of time as needed.

Along with Snow Summit Ski Resort there is also Bear Mountain, which doesn't have as many fast lifts and is designed more for snowboarders.  Both resorts are owned by the same company so lift tickets for Snow Summit are good at Bear Mtn as well.  A free shuttle runs between the two resorts.

PAYMENT
Note: The cabin's address will go out a few days in advance to those who've paid.  Payment covers both nights.  Breakfast is included for Saturday & Sunday.

REFUNDS
I can do refunds until Friday February 22th at 10pm. After this you'll need to find a replacement.

THE CABIN
Our cabin will have a kitchen, living room, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, gas fireplace, tv, dvd player, free wifi, and an outdoor hot tub.  The drive from our cabin to Snow Summit will be less than 10 minutes.

LIFT TICKETS
Lift tickets are $59/day at the mountain.

FOOD
We'll be eating breakfast at our condo (included in the cost for the condo). For lunch we'll either purchase at the mountain or bring sack lunches. And we'll eat out for dinner Sat night.

LESSONS
Info about lessons at Snow Summit is here.

RENTALS
Rental info for Snow Summit can be found here.  I've found that prices are usually cheaper just down the street at Goldsmith's Board House, plus they rent all the extra stuff like snow pants, gloves, goggles, hats, jackets, and even padding.

CARPOOLING
I'll be helping everyone find a carpool.  In the meantime, feel free to post a comment with whether you'd like to ride or drive as well as how many spots you have open, where you'll be leaving from, and your earliest leave time and latest return time.

Have a great time, Everyone!! I'm an avid downhill snow skier. However, after sustaining a serious medical emergency in October, 2012, (non ski related), I promised my neurosurgeon that I would take the 2012 ski season off to allow my brain to heal. Be safe, and ski you soon! :)

I cannot make it for the entire weekend, but I will be at Snow Summit separately with my kids on March 2 if anyone wants to say hello on the slopes!

I'm surprised by the level of growth I've seen since becoming an organizer, it's given me more confidence in my abilities.
