This is an update on the Polyamorous Political Summit, happening July 21-22, in Northern California.
This event follows the Polyamory Gathering that happens earlier that same weekend at the same location, but the poly Politcal summit is technically a separate event from the Poly Gathering.
All interested persons are encouraged to attend and participate. One major focus will be about our fledging efforts to eventually gain legal recognition for polyamorous marriages and/or similar arrangements, with particular attention given to determining what can we DO to make this happen. (Not just dream, fantasize, and discuss, but actually DO). Anybody with good ideas and input is definitely welcome. (Any poly triads or quads etc interested in being involved in a "test case? Any good legal minds out there interested in weighing in on the subject?) However, this topic will not be the only one discussed, and anybody wishing to do presentations on ANY topic relevant to polyamorous activism or related matters is encouraged to attend and make a presentation.
We probably already have more proposed topics than there is time to discuss, but we can take more suggestions. This will be a fairly structured series of discussions, but most of the selection of topics will be done by those who actually show up and participate. Even if you don't wish to do a formal presentation, I invite everyone who participates to come with information about what type of polyactism they personally feel inspired and motivated to actively persue, why they feel it is important, and what types of assistance and support they need from others to help make it happen.

POLYAMORY POLITICAL SUMMIT
SUNDAY JULY 21 - MONDAY JULY 22
"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has."
- Margaret Mead
The "great excuse" in recent years for holding back on polyactivism is that we needed to wait for the Supreme Court to hear DOMA, cases related to same-sex marriage in California, and to issue its final ruling on these matters. However, the Supreme Court has now heard those cases, and is expected to announce their rulings by the beginning of July, so this "great excuse" will have expired. What now? Should we be searching for a new "great excuse," or is it finally time to start agitating for the legitimization of poly marriages and similar arrangements? If so, what should we do, and how should we do it?
Notice this Poly Political Summit is a distinct event from the main polyamory gathering, and you must register for it separately. Anyone registered for the main polyamory gathering may attend the Poly Political Summit for an additional $60. Anyone not registered for the polyamory gathering may register for and attend the Political Summit for $75. This price includes continential breakfast on Monday morning, but otherwise no meals or lodging are included, but attendees may sleep over night inside the building in the common areas, camp outside the building in tents or vehicles.
