Ocean Swim Corona del Mar Beach this Saturday 8am

  • This location is shown only to members

  • It is time to start swimming in the ocean again. This Saturday at 8am we swim 1-4 laps around the buoys. Please meet by the showers at the main lifeguard tower at 7:45am and be ready to enter the water at 8am.

    PLEASE introduce yourself and let everyone know your swimming level or ability. That way we can pair you off with others

    Mark, do you feel like we should officially cancel? I will go down in the morning just to double check and make sure everyone is on the same page. Corona is pretty sheltered from the big surf, but it probably is best to be on the safe side.

    Just so everyone is aware, there is a beach hazard alert in effect until Monday from San Diego county up through OC. I still plan on being there to meet with anyone who either missed the alert or wants to get visual confirmation on conditions tomorrow morning.

    Just a heads up: weather service is issuing a "strong rip currents and elevated surf" advisory for this weekend that will result in "dangerous swimming conditions" for OC beaches, especially those that are south-facing. It's enough to make me think the pool is good enough. :)
