Demo Night OCVR #2

Hi VR Troopers,

We are hosting our 2nd night of demos at Peoplespace on July 3rd!

Our first demo night was a huge success with 11 VR demos to try out, a diverse crowd of developers, enthusiasts, and investors, and a special appearance by Oculus with a DK2. (Check out the wrap-up video) Our second demo event is poised to be even bigger and better!

Come join us for a night of amazing VR demos, interesting conversations, and, of course, some free snacks and drinks.

Here is a list of some of the demos that should be at the event:

E McNeil- Darknet

Ben Miller- WeMo Labs

Doug Griffin- Faceshift

Philip Lunn- Rise

Morris May- VR Fruit Ninja (Or another project)

Michael Alvero- VR Typing (Or another project)

Andy Goldstein- Spacewalk (Or another project)

Waqas Hussain- Unreal Engine VR Project

Shahriar S. Afshar- KOR-FX

Albert Kim- DoubleMe

Rumor has it that folks from Oculus might stop by with a couple of DK2s as well!

I'm hoping that someone will bring "cardboard." Both for demoing and for sale, either complete or as a kit - or maybe a special tutorial session somewhere on how to build and use it. Actually, this relates to an earlier post about the potential synergy between the make movement and VR. Just as Rift basically came out of a garage, expect more and more homebrew breakthrus that overleap the corporate think tanks and R & D labs. The looming challenge is once again the spectre of intellectual property wars. The good news is that in their recent decision regarding patenting of common business practices, they came down solidly on the side of limiting what can be patented. How far they can go with that remains to be seen. With $trillions in the balance and access to new tech at stake, it took real courage and intelligence to take that first step - certainly more than I expected.

I kept referring to "they," forgetting that I had edited out the reference... Referring to the recent Supreme Court decision on patenting common business practices.

Wow, so 'Cardboard' is eating up all the cheap lenses on amazon?! Anyone out there an expert in Optics? I know Injection Molding very well and my father owns an Injection Molding plant.. I believe we could come up with cheap lenses with better quality. Perhaps improve on the design mechanically, such as tabs for aid in retention. Long live DIY.

    Dear OCVR,

I'm going down to Orange county from SF. Can I get a demo spot? DoubleMe converts (or doubles) human (or animal) into full dynamic 3D models in real-time. By doing so, we want to be "Youtube for 3D human models"
No more cartoon like 3D characters! YOU should be a 3D star!

Check out our web site ( or videos
(BTW, this is my double!) See yo tomottow!!

      Hi Albert,
Yes, we can get you a demo table. Hope to see you at the event. Safe travels

Hey Christina, sorry for the delayed response to this. We are still confirming the list of demo-ers for the event, and I will post them in the main description above soon!

Check this out - new haptics:

If anyone's interested in a serious haptic product that should give a near full-body experience, these gloves go a long way toward proof of concept for a product I've conceptualized. Let me know so we can do a non-disclosure, etc.

I have been a Kurzweil tech fan ever since I purchased a K2500R. Amazingly it is still complex, functioning, and useful even tho it was released in the 90s. I wish those haptic gloves could plug into it!
