Demo Night (Horror Experiences and More)

Hi VR Troopers,

We are hosting our 3rd night of demos at Peoplespace on July 31st!

We will be showcasing some of the scary experiences created from last weekend's hackathon as well as an array of other VR demos and experiences.

Last weekend we got together to make horror experiences in VR and want to show off what our community made! Please visit http://orangecountyvr.com/vr-hack-a-thon-2-wrap-up/ to download some of the demos.

Congrats to:

Alex Moro for first place with Temple of Shadows, Jeff Macalino and Michael Arevalo for second place with The Light, and Ivan Blaustein and Tyler Anderson for third place with The Elevator

Also, special mention to Old Sparky, a demo were it more than simulates being strapped down and put into a Virtual Electric Chair! The results are shockingly real.

This event is sponsored by SeeBright. Seebright is developing an affordable smartphone powered head-mounted display with wireless controller that supports both augmented reality and virtual reality applications and a new range of experiences.

Visit seebright.com or follow Seebright on Facebook (facebook.com/seebrightR), Twitter (@seebrightR) or YouTube (YouTube.com/seebrightR)." Or come to this event to check out their awesome HMD technology!

Come join us on July 31st for another night of amazing VR demos, interesting conversations, and, of course, some free snacks and drinks.

See what terror waits for you inside the virtual world!

This was my first time attending an OCVR meetup and it was a professional developer conference. The quality of the demos was remarkable and the presenters discussed the technical aspects of their displays, the coding, the design, the hurdles. There were several models of HMD accessible, the Oculus Rift DK1 & DK2, which I was keen on experiencing, but other devices like the VRcade HMD and an augmented reality HMD by Seebright. The VRcade positioning system was spot-on accurate and created an environment so real I almost fell tripping over a virtual rock that was outside my peripheral vision. The Seebright system has obvious professional implications, from augmented surgery to heads-up schematics for technicians. There was an ultrasonic absolute positioning device on display that will have a kickstart project and worked flawlessly while I watched. Anyone looking for contact with VR experts -- look here.

Just got my DK2! Hopefully I will have some time to mess around with it this week and optimize one of my demos to show at the event.
